There wasn’t much of a delay between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announcing some substantial earnings earlier this week and announcing a new line of products. Today at the “Back to the Mac” event Tim Cook said that Mac computers made up 33% of their revenue last year, about $22 billion. Below I have gone into details about what Mac announced today:

To put that into further context: if the Mac was standalone, it would be ranked #110 on the Fortune 500. There are about 50 million Mac users worldwide and they sold about 13.7 million Macs FY 2010. Mac now has a 20.7% consumer market share for PCs sold. And now there are 600,000 registered Mac developers growing at 30,000 per month.

Last year, Apple stores saw about 75 million visitors. Of these number of visitors, 2.8 million Macs were sold. And 1.9 million of that number were people that were new to the Mac.

The first new product announced at Back to the Mac is the new iLife. iLife now has Facebook enhancements, new full screen modes, and pushpins on a map that indicates every place where photos were taken. Photos can be pulled in from Flickr too. iPhoto also has a project view which looks like a fullscreen wooden bookshelf, just like iBooks. Lastly iLife has added letterpress card templates.

iMovie 11 has several new features too. There is now better audio editing, one step effects, people finder, news/sports themes, and movie trailer effects. FPS speed can also be controlled using iMovie as well.
