2827476514 c0a6498fa6 280x256 AT&T voted the worst of major carriers by Consumer ReportsOf course, I think we all know that iPhone users’ enmity with AT&T is the stuff of convention, but now their is raw data to justify it.

According to a recent survey by Consumer Reports readers, the carrier rates at the lowest amongst customers. The were in this order: U.S. Cellular, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

Naturally, AT&T doesn’t feel too good about it. They issued this official statement:

We take this seriously and we continually look for new ways to improve the customer experience. The fact is wireless customers have choices and a record number of them chose AT&T in the third quarter, significantly more than our competitors. Hard data from independent drive tests confirms AT&T has the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network with our nearest competitor 20 percent slower on average nationwide and our largest competitor 60 percent slower on average nationwide. And, our dropped call rate is within 1/10 of a percent—the equivalent of just one call in a thousand—of the industry leader.

Man, that Verizon iPhone is starting to look really good now.

nintendo3ds Nintendo Coming to CES 2011 After 16 Year Hiatus

Nintendo is one of the biggest video game manufacturers in the world with their Wii home game console proving itself with high sales numbers and the like. However, where many other manufacturers come to CES to show off their latest creations, Nintendo has not appeared at the popular trade show for the past 16 years.

Luckily, it seems that Nintendo will be ending their 16 year hiatus by returning to the Consumer Electronics Show next year. According to reports, Nintendo will be showing off their Nintendo 3DS portable gaming console which features a 3D screen that requires no glasses to view.

Of course, Nintendo has been known to surprise us in the past so to say we know everything Nintendo would be showing off during CES would be incorrect to say.

HTC is one of the world’s leading manufacturers not only for handsets in general but Android handsets as well. In fact, some of their hardest hitting smartphones such as the HTC EVO 4G have created massive buzz with some deeming it one of the best devices on the market powered.

Another handset that’s been known to be in the works over at HTC’s labs is the Merge. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that this device briefly appeared on Verizon’s website giving us an official look at the device. However, just recently, it seems that another leak has went down and the Android powered HTC Merge has appeared yet again on the wireless carriers website.

While the original leak was just a 360-degree image of the device, this time we get a chance to get up close and personal with the HTC Merge. While it doesn’t really show us anything we don’t know, we do get a nice look at the device’s Sense UI and aesthetically pleasing form factor.

Anyone looking to scoop the Merge?

Android smartphones come in all different shapes and sizes so no matter the consumer it shouldn’t be hard to find a phone one is satisfied with. However, just because there are already quite a few Android smattphones on the market it doesn’t mean that hardware manufacturers are looking to slow down production anytime soon. In fact, a new handset dubbed the HTC Merge has been rcreating some buzz and is looking to hit store shelves for Verizon soon.

This Android 2.2 power QWERTY keyboard touting slider has yet to got an official release date but its existence is certainly no secret. Verizon has even made it easier for us to confirm its existence by accidently listing the device on their website before quickly pulling it.

Luckily, our friends over at Android Central got their hands on a pic which we have included above.

Verizon consumers, does the HTC Merge interest you? Do you plan on purchasing it?

GameStop May Start Accepting iPods http://androidiphoneapps.com/2010/10/27/gamestop-may-start-accepting-ipods.html http://androidiphoneapps.com/2010/10/27/gamestop-may-start-accepting-ipods.html#comments Wed, 27 Oct 2010 18:56:22 +0000 gunturbabu http://androidiphoneapps.com/2010/10/27/gamestop-may-start-accepting-ipods.html

Thus far video game retailer GameStop has stayed out of the Apple market in general and iOS sales in particular. That appears to be changing, though, as a picture of the store’s inventory system shows a new entry for iPod trade-ins. As of right now there are no listed prices for the devices, but it seems that GameStop will soon be set to accept everything from Shuffles to Touches for cash or store credit.

ipod trade 222x300 GameStop May Start Accepting iPodsIf true, then this will be quite a surprising development seeing as how the chain doesn’t currently deal in Apple products. While GameStop once accepted PC games and DVD movies for trades, the company slimmed down its policy a few years ago to only focus on console games. This would indeed be a strange reversal of fortune.

There is some speculation that GameStop may begin selling iPod Touches, marketed as handheld gaming systems, but that seems unlikely. The store derives most of its profits from used game sales and another big chunk from new software. Selling a piece of hardware where all content is delivered digitally and directly to the consumer seems like a bad business move for GameStop, which thrives on being the middle-man between publishers and consumers. The store hates the very idea of digital distribution, so why would it want to take a small cut of hardware sales with no future earnings potential?

The more likely scenario is that the chain is prepping for some sort of holiday promotion which will give customers hard up for cash another opportunity to earn a bit more credit toward the season’s hottest games. We’re expecting a trial run for the holidays, with performance dictating whether or not the company makes accepting iPods a standing policy.

So far neither GameStop nor Apple has commented on the rumors, so we’re forced to wait and wonder. In the meantime, what are your thoughts? Would you trade your iPod in at GameStop, or are you worried that given the chain’s questionable pricing of used games that you’d only get ripped off?
