One of the biggest gripes consumers have with the Android platform is the fact that it’s so difficult to stay up to date. Of course, this isn’t the fault of the consumers but instead the actual hardware manufacturers who have continuously delayed the latest builds of Android. One infamous case of this is the Galaxy S which, here in the United States, has yet to receive the latest update, Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2.

This is quickly becoming a problem especially since Android ‘Gingerbread‘ 2.3 is already making its market. Luckily, those of you with a Galaxy S from either Virgin Mobile or SaskTel will be happy to hear that they are now pushing out the update. News comes to us from Samsung’s Canadian Twitter account that says both Virgin Mobile and SaskTel will join Bell as official providers of the Froyo update.

This is great news for our neighbors to the north but what about us here in the United States? It’s pretty ridiculous that a device as popular as the Galaxy S has yet to receive the update. What gives?

Samsung’s Galaxy S line up of Android devices has been on the market for quite some time garnering positive interest. Making an appearance on major carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, the Samsung Galaxy S is available to just about everyone which great contributes to its sucess.

Unfortunately, when any product gets popular no matter what manufacturer it is from, bootleg devices are sure to pop up sooner or later. It seems that the Samsung Galaxy S is no different as an imitation device has appeared and strikes an uncanny resemblance to the real thing as you can see from the above picture.

Seeing how this is blatant copyright infringement, we probably won’t be seeing this device his the United States anytime soon but what is interesting is the fact that the makers of this device promise an Android 2.2 update soon. Will the fake Galaxy S beat the authentic Galaxy S in the race towards Froyo? Only time will tell.

Samsung, makers of that really cool AMOLED screen for the Galaxy S has just invented the Super PLS.

PLS is Plane to Line Switching, and it will allow Samsung users to have some interesting viewing angles and to have a brightness increased by 10 percent. By the way, the production costs for this are cheaper too, by about 15 percent.

These PLS screens should be seen on smartphones sometime early next year.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has only been on the market for a few weeks but already it has proven itself to be one of the most popular Android powered tablets. In fact, if you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that the Samsung was recently announced to have sold 600,000 Galaxy Tab tablets worldwide since its release – and that’s only the beginning.

Currently, the only available Sasmung Galaxy Tab devices are from the various wireless carriers with built-in 3G. This means a high price tag and more often than not, more monthly bills. However, we’ve known for quite some time that Samsung would eventually go on to release a WiFi only version of their critically acclaimed tablet just exactly when we aren’t sure.

It seems that the device has recently been listed on Best Buy for $499.99. Unfortunately, before you get too excited make note that Samsung has reportedly delayed the release of this tablet despite Best Buy’s listing.

So, Samsung, when will we actually be able to purchase a WiFi only Galaxy Tab?
