As many of you know, Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) introduced free WiFi this year finally. Starbucks is now integrating the Starbucks Digital Network across their 6,800 U.S. operated stores. SDN will showcase content from The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and The New York Times. There will be a News, Entertainment, Wellness, Business, and My Neighborhood section.

SDN was designed using HTML5 so that you can view the content on the iPhone and iPad also. Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) will be powering the search for SDN. If SDN users make a purchase from partners, then Starbucks will make money through a revenue sharing agreement. This is one way that Starbucks plans to make up for the cost of offering free WiFi to consumers.

“Tens of millions of customers are coming in to our stores and logging in to our Wi-Fi on a monthly basis anyways. They’re coming in because we provide this great experience — good music overhead, quality food and coffee and the opportunity to connect with your friends or the baristas … What we hope is that this is a nice complement to that experience,” said Starbucks in an interview.

You have to love the mind of the opportunist. Always lurking in the weeds just waiting to strike the opportunity at the chance of making some money. That’s exactly what’s going on over in Britain.

9 to 5 Mac reports that the folks across the pond are lining up to buy brand new iPhone 4s and then sell them back to China (where they are made), unlocked at a higher price. The same thing is happening in New York where the New York Times is quoted saying the following about the “grey” market back and forth: Read More

Wasn’t I just talking about the special edition R2-D2 Live Wallpaper? Yes, I was, just yesterday.

Perhaps you want a little more variety on your Google Live Wallpaper. In that case, you should probably get in this particular App known as Wallpaper Rotator.

Wallpaper Rotator is exactly what it says that it is: an App offers wallpaper swapping from a local directory or Flickr account. It can rotate it at a user-defined interval that ranges from every half-hour, hour, six hours, day, or even week.

The App is free, so enjoy it, all you Android users!

We all know that Android phones have Live Wallpapers, and we also know about the special R2-D2 editions. Someone has seen fit to combine the best of both worlds with this R2-D2 Edition Live Wallpaper.

They also come in the non-Live edition if you want to go that direction, and they come in designs ranging from Boba Fett, Yoda, to the man/droid himself.

Just a friendly reminder, the release date for the R2-D2 edition is still September 30th, as far as I know.

You’ve heard of this Love Plus thing, right? This Nintendo DS-based “dating simulator” is apparently a big deal in Japan, giving Otaku the opportunity to chat up (and kiss) girls the only way they know how: on a hand-held game console, with a stylus. To promote the latest version of the game (Love Plus +), Konami has developed an Augmented Reality iPhone app that players can take to the coastal city of Atami and use to interact with their virtual girlfriends at any of thirteen romantic spots. One can even book a a room at the Ohnoya hotel which, according to Discovery News, offers futon beds and a “barcode panel that allows the men to visualize their girlfriends in a flattering summer kimono.” Over 2,000 virtual lotharios visited the resort town during the campaign, which began on July 10 and ends today. Check out the the trailer for the game (in Japanese, which doesn’t diminish the enjoyment for our English readers one bit) after the break.
