Social networks are all around us with Facebook becoming so poplar that is spawned the major motion picture The Social Network. However, while Facebook is the largest social network in the world, it does have its worthy competitors. One competitor that is arguably the most worthy is none other than Twitter with seemingly everyone hopping on board.
Since Twitter is such a popular online service, it should come as no surprise that a bunch of mobile developers have produced applications focusing solely on the network. One such application for Android is dubbed Twidroyd which we’ve told you about in the past. Well, if you’re a user of this application you may notice that it features some advertisements making for a slightly less pleasent experience.
Well, it looks like enough users have complained that the makers of Twidroyd have gone ahead and removed the advertisements in the latest build now available on the market. Have you checked out Twidroyd? If so, let us know what you think of it in the comments below.

Some of you might have heard of the immensely popular Flight Control game for the iPhone and iPod Touch (and other platforms).
If you are a fan, then you will be interested in hearing about a recent update. With a little help from Game Center, you can go into multiplayer mode. This is presumably so you can direct a lot traffic.
Check it out now if you are interested.
Some of you might remember when we reported on the man who said a Motorola Droid 2 exploded in his ear.
Now we getting indication that these claims could be false. That maybe this user dropped the phone, didn’t realize that the glass was broken, and cut his ear (hence the blood).
I guess there must be phone forensics teams that check out phones for claims like these. Either this posting is a lesson about falsely reporting on your busted phone, or watch out for exploding phones.
Kyocera has made a phone under the Sanyo brand, and the Taho E4100 is an interesting flip phone.
There isn’t many “big” features for this phone, but it has a 2 Megapixel camera with flash, micro SD slot, GPS navigation, stereo Bluetooth, speakerphone, personal organizer, digital music player, as well as a text and multimedia messenger.
The Taho is also able to withstand some tough terrain as it has rubber sidings for shielding against dust, shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, rain, and can even withstand a dunking in a meter of water.
The Taho will be available on January 9, 2011 for $99.99 with two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate.
Sprint is now offering its customers the new Sanyo SCP 6650, better known as the Sanyo Katana II S…

Do you have any doubt that Android is quickly becoming the biggest name in the mobile world? Well, if the immense amount of Android powered handsets wasn’t enough then perhaps you should check out a tweet recently sent by Google’s very own Andy Rubin.
According to Mr. Rubin, 300,000 mobile phones are being activated each and every day powered by the Android mobile operating system. To put this into comparison, Apple CEO Steve Jobs took center stage back in September to let us know that there were roughly 230,000 iOS activations per day. Just to note, Rubin makes an effort to say phones, while Jobs says iOS devices in general which includes the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. This would lead one to believe that if Google factored in tablets, those figures would be much higher.
What ever the case may be, Android is growing, and it’s growing fast. Have you hopped on board yet? Do you plan on doing so?
