If you’ll remember, we told you not too long ago that Google’s Andy Rubin had taken center stage at an event to show off a prototype Motorola tablet powered by none other than Android 3.0, otherwise known as Honeycomb. While we didn’t get an incredibly in depth look at the device, we did get a chance to see how how much different Honeycomb will be than any version of Android before it.

Now, some new reports have surfaced that say the same Motorola tablet has appeared in Taiwan with the above picture showing it off. Of course, it doesn’t show too much but it was accompanied by some specs that say the Motorola tablet will feature a 1280 x 800 display, an NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 processor, a 5 megapixel camera, a 2 megapixel front facing camera, 32GB of internal storage and a microSD slot.

Additionally, it’s also said to be coming in both 7 and 10-inch versions. Will this be the tablet that finally topples the iPad and makes the Samsung Galaxy Tab look like child’s play? We’ll have to wait and see.

One of the biggest gripes consumers have with the Android platform is the fact that it’s so difficult to stay up to date. Of course, this isn’t the fault of the consumers but instead the actual hardware manufacturers who have continuously delayed the latest builds of Android. One infamous case of this is the Galaxy S which, here in the United States, has yet to receive the latest update, Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2.

This is quickly becoming a problem especially since Android ‘Gingerbread‘ 2.3 is already making its market. Luckily, those of you with a Galaxy S from either Virgin Mobile or SaskTel will be happy to hear that they are now pushing out the update. News comes to us from Samsung’s Canadian Twitter account that says both Virgin Mobile and SaskTel will join Bell as official providers of the Froyo update.

This is great news for our neighbors to the north but what about us here in the United States? It’s pretty ridiculous that a device as popular as the Galaxy S has yet to receive the update. What gives?

kobo readinglife 280x183 Kobo’s “Reading Life” brings social media to e readingWe have reported on Kobo’s e-reading software many times before, like when it came to Android, not to mention WebOS, BlackBerry, and the iPhone.

The iPad App has recently had an update to what is called “Reading Life”. This adds elements of social media, which means you can show the world what you are reading via Facebook. So if you just got to an important part of a book, and want everyone else to know, then you can.

You should be able to get the App for free, right now.

gingerbread1ghz Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 to Require 1GHz Processor?

As software gets more advanced the hardware runs it must advance as well in order to keep up – this is no secret. However, this becomes a problem when users are locked into 2-year contracts with underpowered hardware, especially in Android’s case where there are so many different phones with varying hardware.

Unfortunately, it seem,s that things are about to get a whole lot worse as when questioned about the LG Optimus S and Android 2.3, they responded by saying that a 1GHz processor is required and the Optimus S features just 600MHz.

If this is true it will pose a treat to owners of devices like the Motorola Droid which doesn’t feature a 1GHz processor. Luckily, there is a chance that this is wrong information as Google has not yet come forth to speak of the matter.

We’ll keep you posted.
