The last time we were talking about INQ, they could be working on a Facebook phone with Android.

I have just learned from INQ’s CEO Frank Meehan that the company plans to put Spotify on their new cellphone. Spotify enables the user to search as well as play tracks from a massive catalog via 3G or WiFi. Subscribers should be able to download over 3,333 song directly to their phones.

Considering that the INQ Chat 3G comes with Twitter, Facebook, and Skype, it doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch, does it?

Not much is known about Gingerbread, the Version 3.0 of Android, but I have recently heard that it will be equipped for video calling.

Andy Rubin has stated that:

We support video chat today, with Google Talk Video. It works on the desktop. Whether that can be repurposed and made appropriate for sipping bandwidth for mobile, it’s an exercise that’s underway.

This is a pretty good point about video conferencing available for Android versions 2.0 and greater. I can only assume that version 3.0 could be built for it. This is assuming that anyone wants Facetime-style video conferencing.

That overhauled Yahoo Messenger app we told you about 48 hours ago is now live in the App Store, offering multitasking on the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, 3G / WiFi video calling (iOS to iOS, iOS to Android or iOS to PC) and instant notifications. Users interested in making voice calls can also tap into their bucket of Yahoo Voice Phone Out minutes, but it’ll only work in America, France, Germany, Spain and Singapore at the moment. So many mobile applications are released just about every day for all of the various mobile operating systems. Of these mobile applications, some receive some critical acclaim and others do not. However, many of the mobile applications released by big name software developers usually receive a high level of publicity regardless if they are actually good or not.

One such application is Skype Mobile. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that Skype Mobile has been available for several mobile operating system for quite some time including Android. While the app allows you to make calls over WiFi, it does not allow allow you to make 3G calls which effectively limits its usability.

Luckily, the hacking community has managed to hack Skype Mobile for Android giving it the ability to make calls over 3G. Of course, seeing how this isn’t exactly official and/or carrier authorized there is a chance you may incur some extra fees so proceed at your own risk.
