For those who think that doing good things has no reward are about to be proven wrong by Boost Mobile’s new plan.

The Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage plan, and it reduces the usual $50 monthly charge to low as $35 by making payments on time.

The plan works by reducing the monthly charge by $5 after six on-time payments. So the first month would be $50, the sixth month would be $45, and so forth until the minimum of $35 is reached. Those with the BlackBerry plan start out at $60 a month until they get to the minimum of $45. If customers do end up missing a monthly payment date, they don’t have to start over from the maximum amount–they just pay their current rate until it drops to the next level. There is no penalty for missing a month. Customers can sign up for this new plan starting October 14.

The no-contract plan includes unlimited voice, text, web, e-mail, instant messaging, and 411 calls. Also reduced is the price of Boost Mobile’s International Connect feature, and it is $5 a month for unlimited calling to landlines in Mexico, Canada, the Dominican Republic, and some Asian-Pacific countries, as well as international text messaging.

Last night, while I was attending Showstoppers, an event for the media for CTIA, I encountered an App known as Start Talking.

Start Talking is everything that its name implies, an App that allows the user to talk to his or her mobile phone. This really allows the user never to look at or touch their phone at all, which is useful to avoid texting-while-driving.

So if you want to send a text message, just tell your phone. Not only does Start Talking let you talk to your phone, but it will talk back and read your messages aloud.

Start Talking is currently available on Android phones, but is coming soon for all platforms. Check out the official website for more information.

Since AT&T recently started offering capped data plans for iPhone, those of you who were not grandfathered into the unlimited plan do have to pay attention to their 3G and Edge usage. While the iPhone does offer the ability to monitor your usage by going to Settings > General > Usage, it still doesn’t offer a reliable way to see what you’re really using.

Enters Data Counter, a jailbreak application that helps you keep track of your data usage within a given period…

The other day, we discussed the LG Optimus with WiFi calling.

I have just learned that there may be more Wi-Fi bundling coming to Android phones here in the near future. This may include the T-Mobile G2, when last I heard.

So, is this a shift away from cell phone calling to only VoIP? Why not? If every phone has Wi-Fi, though.

When cell phones were first introduced they were pretty much nothing more than devices to make phone calls with. However, as time progressed, inevitably, so did handset technology. Now a days, cell phones have evolved into smart phones capable of sending text messages, playing graphically enhanced games and browsing the web. However, in order to access many of a smart phone’s greatest features, you need a wireless data plan.

Most of these data plans started as unlimited but as more users flocked to the various carriers they were forced to impose a bandwidth cap. If you think about it, unlimited data isn’t physically possible, it’s more of a marketing term that companies put forth in anticipation that supply will far outpace demand.

AT&T, for instance, had unlimited data but with the massive influx of new iPhone users the carrier axed the unlimited plan and moved towards caps.

Sprint, on the other hand has continued to offer unlimited bandwidth even while competing carriers have not. However, with hard hitting devices like the Samsung Epic 4G and HTC EVO 4G Sprint’s network have got to be feeling some strain. In fact, according to Sprint CEO, unlimited data may end if usage gets unreasonable.

As more consumers make the switch it seems inevitable that usage will get “unreasonable”. In the mean time, enjoy your unlimited data while it lasts.
