Android – Iphone – Applications

If you’ve been holding off updating to iOS 4.3.x because of the lack of support for some of your favorite jailbreak tweaks and apps, I can understand your position. While I love iOS updates that include tons of bug fixes and new features, I usually don’t upgrade right away due to compatibly issues with jailbreak apps and tweaks I couldn’t live without on my iPhone.

With the release of iOS 4.3.2 this late last week, and the new iOS 4.3.2 redsn0w jailbreak still not completely stable, some of you might not want to wait any longer for a stable jailbreak, or maybe you’re having additional issues with the new OS. It is important you have your SHSH blobs on file for the iOS version you want to downgrade to. If you don’t have your SHSH blobs on file for the iOS you want to downgrade to, you will not be able to downgrade. You can check which SHSH blobs on file you’ve got by launching Cydia and looking at the top of the Cydia homepage where it lists all your saved SHSH blobs. (…)

The reader uncovered the hidden references while browsing his photo library on his iPhone via a 3rd party editing app. What could these secret features possibly mean for iOS users?(…)

Can you feel it in the air? I surely can. I get the same feeling before virtually every big jailbreak solution.

There’s an eerie quiet among the folks taking the lead in the jailbreaking community, demos have been demonstrated, and tweets have been tweeted.

Now all we can do is wait, and wait patiently. Although we’re expecting it literally any hour or day now, it’s always a nice surprise when it finally arrives…

To tide us over, MuscleNerd dropped a few hints about the imminence of the Dev Team’s new version of RedSn0w and PwnageTool; each will support 4.3.1…(…)

In iOS 4.3, Apple has supposedly limited the speed of web apps added to the iPhone’s home screen. Develepors and users have been reporting that web-based applications launched from an independent springboard icon are loading more than 2x slower than sites opened in Mobile Safari.

Meaning that, web apps/favorite sites launched from an icon shortcut aren’t given any access to the Nitro Javascript engine that’s baked into iOS 4.3. If Apple has intentionally hampered the performance of web apps in 4.3, such a move could been seen as a subliminal push to get people downloading more App Store apps.

If you’ve noticed lagging performance with your favorite web apps in iOS 4.3, there’s an easy way to take advantage of Mobile Safari’s full resources…(…)
