I can’t believe that I’m just now finding a tweak that lets you search Google from anywhere on Cydia. There’s another tweak out there that does something similar, right?

If not, I’m shocked that it took this long to get a tweak like QuickGoogle to the Cydia store, but the good news is that it’s here, and it works marvelously.

QuickGoogle is a very simple tweak that uses an Activator action to pull up a Google search pop up notification box anytime and anywhere you please.

Want to see how QuickGoogle performs in action? Then check inside for the full video walkthrough…(…)

As the fourth installment, by Filippo Bigarella, for TweakWeek, TheftAlarm takes an interesting approach to keeping your iPhone safe from thievery.

Instead of relying on a service like Find My iPhone from Apple to track down your iPhone once it’s stolen, TheftAlarm aims at making sure your iPhone never leaves the building in the first place. When your iPhone is unattached from a sync/charge USB cable, TheftAlarm will blare a warning noise that your device has been unplugged…(…)

LockAlert is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to easily close a push notification preview straight on your iPhone’s lockscreen. Instead of having to slide to unlock your iPhone, the notification can be dismissed by tapping an “X” that LockAlert adds to the top corner of the preview dialog.

If you aren’t using a replacement system of notifications, like MobileNotifier, on your jailbroken iPhone, LockAlert could be the perfect addition to the iOS method of push notifications.(…)

When you switch from app to app with the iPhone’s nifty multitasking tray, apps fly in on top of each other from left to right with a cool “card swipe” effect. If you’d like a change of pace, a new jailbreak tweak, by Filippo Bigarella, called verticalAppToApp will bring vertical animation to your iPhone’s multitasking.

verticalAppToApp is part of a project called TweakWeek. TweakWeek releases a new, free jailbreak tweak every day for 8 weeks from prominent jailbreak developers in the community. verticalAppToApp follows some of Filippo Bigarella’s other TweakWeek contributions, like TheftAlarm and SwishUnlock.(…)

PrivateSMS is a new TweakWeek jailbreak tweak for the iPhone that sets out to hide your personal SMS messages from view.

The only issue is that if the person who’s trying to read your SMS messages really wants to read them, it’s not too hard to figure out how to do so.

PrivateSMS makes it so that it appears that you have no SMS messages in your inbox, but with just a couple of taps, all of your messages are instantly viewable.

This fact alone eliminates PrivateSMS from candidacy when it comes to genuinely securing your SMS messages, but it might be the first line of defense that you’ve been looking for…(…)
