Android – Iphone – Applications

Last week we told you about an upcoming jailbreak app called SlideAway which seemed like a promising way to enhance your iPhone lockscreen. The app is now live and available to download from Cydia.

SlideAway brings substance to your iPhone’s lockscreen, allowing you to access the apps you use the most without having to unlock the device. Additionally, SlideAway keeps track of your unread mails, SMS, missed calls or push notifications, displaying a count of unread items right from your lockscreen… (…)

SMS Signature is a new application available for jailbroken iPhones that will allow you to, as you probably figured out, add a custom signature to text messages sent from your iPhone.

After downloading the application from Cydia, you can use the Settings app to configure SMS Signature. From there, you can create and activate a custom text signature. From now on, every time you send a text message, the signature will automatically be appended to it… (…)

Now if you’re a frequent drunk texter, you might either want to talk about it to a professional care provider or check out the TUI Checkpoint app in Cydia, a new jailbreak app that will help you prevent those embarrassing moments… (…)

Though the iPhone’s virtual keyboard has been named one of the best in the business, it still lacks a fairly major feature: haptic feedback. The little vibration that lets you know a key has been pressed is on nearly every other touchscreen smartphone on the market, but not the iPhone.

Luckily we have the jailbreak community to produce apps and tweaks that makeup for iOS shortcomings. Though there have been haptic feedback utilities in Cydia for quite some time now, they’ve never really impressed me. They always seemed to make iOS slower and less reliable, until now…(…)

While the jailbreak scene is home to a lot of apps and utilities that make our lives easier, it is also a hot bed for innovation. Since the Cydia App Store has very little submission guidelines, developers can use forbidden API’s as their hearts’ desire.

While you may not necessarily “need” this utility, it definitely falls in the innovative category. The guys over at iPhoneIslam have created an app that turns your 3G-modeled iPad into a talking, texting iPhone. Don’t believe it? Video after the break…(…)
