One of the big drawbacks about the iPad 2 is its camera; identical to the iPod touch 4th generation’s camera, it only takes photos at a 960
Here is an interesting piece of news for iPad 2 owners out there. According to iPhone hacker Veeence, the Chronic Dev Team is just 3 weeks away from being done with their new jailbreak, which will most likely work with the iPad 2 as well. It was only last week that the Chronic Dev Team posted an update on their blog asking us to not bug them about the iPad 2 jailbreak, and here you have Veeence throwing a little more oil on the fire… (…)
Apple made a pretty big revamp to its retail experience over this past weekend. What sites have started calling “Apple Store 2.0” now features interactive iPad displays for each product and enhancements for customer and Apple employee interaction. Alongside Apple Store 2.0, Apple has updated its official Apple Store app with a few enhancements. You can now configure a new Mac with specific customizations (like on Apple’s website), and do things like see how many people are in front of you in line at your local Apple store…(…)
i3D is a new app that can create a glasses-free 3D display on iDevices, using a technology known as Head-Coupled Perspective (HCP). Developed by the folks from the Engineering Human-Computer Interaction (EHCI) Research Group, HCP uses a front facing camera to track the movements of a user’s head, allowing the app to adjust the display accordingly. The result is a monocular 3D screen that creates the illusion of looking into a box. If the concept sounds a little familiar, it could be because Google unveiled a similar headtracking feature for Ice Cream Sandwich during the opening keynote at this month’s I/O event. And by “similar” we mean “pretty much the exact same thing.” i3D is now available for free in the iTunes Store and runs on the iPad 2, iPhone 4 and fourth generation iPod Touch. You can compare both iOS and Ice Cream Sandwich 3D generators after the break (Google’s demo kicks off around the 16:50 mark). i3D app brings glasses-free 3D to iOS, tracks your gaze like a creepy portrait tracks Scooby Doo (video) originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 23 May 2011 17:25:00 EST. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like there’s been an accident at Apple’s manufacturing partner, Foxconn’s Chengdu, China factory. At this point details aren’t completely clear but it seems the explosion at the factory plant unfortunately caused sixteen injuries and two deaths. The Chengdu plant opened up last year in an effort to increase production of Apple’s iPad tablet. The explosion reportedly occurred at 7pm Chengdu time yesterday. Foxconn states that they are working with security officials to find out exactly what caused the accident. Both Apple and Foxconn have released statements regarding the explosion… (…)
