Android – Iphone – Applications

We heard this might happen, but seeing is believing. Apple has totally removed any trace of the white iPhone 4 from the online store. No more “coming soon,” it’s just gone.

There are now just three flavors of iPhone’s advertised on the Apple store, the Black 8GB 3GS, the Black 16GB iPhone 4, and the 32GB Black iPhone 4. Of course, this will inevitably change with the next iteration of the device — the iPhone 5. Hmm, Verizon anyone?

If you like your players orange and portable but don’t have a tablet, you may be in luck. The VLC Media Player app, which recently made the iPad a little more codec-friendly, is now available in the App Store for the iPhone (4 and 3GS) and iPod touch. This new version is also said to support even more file types, offer better performance, and allows for the deletion of files right through its own interface. It’s available now, so get downloading — your classic cartoons await.

VLC downsized to fit on the iPhone and iPod touch, now playing in the App Store originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 25 Oct 2010 08:54:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

This guide and tutorial will show you how to use the freshly released PwnageTool to jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, or iPhone 3G. There has been a couple jailbreak tools for iOS 4.1 released recently but only PwnageTool will preserve your baseband allowing you to update to a jailbroken 4.1, while still preserving your baseband so you can unlock.

PwnageTool is available for Mac only. If you don’t have a Mac, try to find a friend who does, and simply use his computer to cook the firmware. This guide was written using an iPhone 4 but the steps are the same, no matter what iPhone model you have (only the firmware downloaded will change).

This being said, make sure to follow this guide to jailbreak your iPhone iOS 4.1 with PwnageTool. As always when hacking your iPhone, you are proceeding at your own risks… Read More

Apple just released iOS 4.2 Beta to developers. As 9 to 5 Mac noted, it’s not only available for iPhones as you can also download iOS 4.2 Beta for iPad, which will bring over-the-air printing.

As usual when a new firmware comes out, it is recommended that jailbreakers and unlockers stay away from it if they don’t want to lose the ability to jailbreak/unlock in the future… Read More
