iSpaceship Apple’s Mothership Campus in Cupertino Will Be an iSpaceship

In case you haven’t heard, Apple is planning on building a new headquarters in Cupertino. The project has been proposed by Steve Jobs himself to the Cupertino City Council, and the Mayor of Cupertino has confirmed that the city plans on supporting Apple in its move to a larger and more exterrestrial building.

Apple currently has around 12,000 employees located in Cupertino, California that work at the current Infinite Loop campus and surrounding buildings. Steve Jobs is excited about the new HQ, because all 12,000 employees will finally be under one (curved glass) roof.

Did we mention that the building looks like a UFO?(…)

chronicnuance Nuance Voice Recognition is in iOS 5 After All

The entire tech industry watched as Scott Forstall outlined Apple’s 10 most prized (or most ready) new features in iOS 5 last Monday. To everyone’s surprise, the entire presentation went on without any mention of the rumored Apple/Nuance partnership.

TechCrunch and other media outlets reported multiple times last month on sources claiming that Apple and Nuance had struck a deal to bring legitimate voice recognition technology to iOS. But WWDC came and went without a word from either company…(…)

PhoneItiPad Turns Your 3G Equipped iPad into a Smartphone

There’s always been an argument that the 3G-equipped iPads are just 9.7″ iPhones without a calling plan. While VoIP apps, such as Skype, can indeed turn iPads into a phone of sorts, there’s never been a way to make proper cellular calls using Apple’s tablets. Until now.

Enter a new jailbreak app courtesy of iPhoneIslam, the same guys who brought us FaceIt3GS – an app that allows iPhone 3GS users to get in on the FaceTime bandwagon.

Called PhoneItiPad, this jailbreak tweak allows owners of the iPad 3G to make telephone calls using their cellular connection just like an iPhone, making the iPad the world’s largest phone…(…)

scenetap app SceneTap app analyzes pubs and clubs in real time, probably wont score you a Jersey Shore cameo

So, here’s the skinny — when SceneTap launches in a month or so, it’ll provide Android and iOS users with a frightening amount of analysis before you hit the town. As the story goes, the startup will be tapping into an infrastructure of cameras spread across an untold quantity of bars. The goal? To provide a real-time snapshot of what the demographics are at any location on any given night. According to the company, demographic information, social commentary and “other comprehensive features” will be shown, all of which will help people decide where they’d like to go. For the privacy freaks, they’ll (hopefully) be comforted by the fact that no actual recording is going on, and each person is tracked anonymously. Hailed as a “new type of social network,” SceneTap will initially cover 50 clubs, and of course, there’s no DUI checkpoint feature for those hoping to do something as impractical as drink and drive afterwards. Head on past the break for the rest of the deets, and be sure to ping the company if you’re hoping for a Snooki Sighting push alert in version 2.0.
