With the onset of iPads, the IT world is set on fire with the question of iPad taking the place of traditional netbooks. Everyone is speculating the possibility of the iPad substituting the usage of netbooks. Netbooks have gradually replaced the traditional PCs and now they are in danger of being replaced by a mobile tablet that is promising of enhanced features and easy, relaxing usage.

The best factor of the iPad is its ability to provide comfort to users. With its easy to use functionality, touch screen and portability, many users prefer it over the netbooks, where one would have to sit hunched, bend forward and perform one’s work.

With the constant innovation in making technology more smarter, easier and more compact, it could be a possibility for the iPad to take over netbooks, if the manufacturers fill it with needed features.

Currently though,it could be a long time before the tablet iPad could reach the local market, as right now it is still in productive stage. Its functionality is just limited to browsing the web and that too in not a very functional way, as they do not support flash programs, do not support USB drives etc. However, if all these glitches are fixed and the price could remain affordable for the majority of the population, then it could be the next computing rage, but reaching that stage requires years of innovative introductions. By that time the netbooks will also become smaller and more convenient than they are currently. In the IT world, every single object is in a constant phase of change, hence it cannot be predicted what could be eliminated, what could be preserved.

The iPads could be beneficial for travelers or people who’s work is mostly related to the internet, but for hardcore gamers, professionals, the old good PC and the laptops are still the preferred device. Currently the only advantage that could be seen with the iPad is its “lean back” computing lifestyle, where one can sit peacefully on a couch and do the work, rather than sitting hunched, lean forward on a PC or laptop.

In conclusion, it is not right to state that the iPad will take place of the laptop, since it is a posh, fragile device, that does not allow full functionality, however if used as a personal computing device, it could be helpful.
