Find Your Voice with Voice ChangerInterested in a voice changing application for your iPhone? Voice Changer by Hurryforward Ltd. is a plausible option for just .99. Featuring 18 different sound effects including helium, robot, megaphone, and reverse, Voice Changer utilizes a basic recording function and then lets users apply any of the different sound settings to the recording.

Voice Changer also features the ability to edit sounds by adjusting pitch, rate, tempo and gain, as well as apply and adjust echo and chorus effects. Sound effects applied to the recordings can be saved and shared by email as a sound file or ringtone. Beyond this meager bit of entertainment that might be amusing to a point, it is pretty difficult to figure out any other uses for Voice Changer as creating a voice mail message or using it with the phone function appears unlikely. Yes, you read the title of this post correctly. Thanks to a little add-on called the Stun Fone, you can now turn your iPhone into a stun gun. How real is this? I have no idea, but to be honest with you, I don’t have much faith in the trustworthiness of it.

I came across the Stun Fone via TUAW, and these peeps are on the fence too. Check out the video below and tell us what you think… Read More

I’m not a gamer so I’m hardly ever impressed by any video game. But wow, this trailer for Infinity Blade is in its own category and definitely stands out from what I’ve ever seen on the iPhone.

There is no indication about when Infinity Trailer will be released or how much it will cost, but this non-gamer can’t wait to get his hands on it. Check out the video below to see the full trailer… Read More

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a solid dual stick shooter come along. Maybe the industry needed some time off from the dual stick shooter craze of 2009. It seemed like every other game in the App Store was some variation of iDracula, and that dual stick survivors would be what the iOS would be known for. Fortunately for society, time passed and the genre moved past plain survival and on to full games with levels that actually end.

IMG 0737 300x200 Revolt ReviewRevolt stands firmly in the new age of dual stick shooting that uses real level structures, detailed maps, and actual stories. The feeling you get playing Revolt is that of which you would get playing an early “turn of the century” game on a PC. Like many in that era of gaming, the guns are all huge, the stories are all post-apocalyptic, and the developers got extremely lighting happy in the level design.

Past anything else in the game; past the guns, the story, the bad guys, you’ll notice the lighting effects. It’s pretty obvious that the vast majority of the time spent making Revolt was on the level design and lighting, and it turned out rather well. Levels are all carefully designed, and at times the lighting will really wow you. Beautiful spotlights will shine from the ground, and many rooms have that eerie but oh so satisfying glow coming from the nooks and crannies.

Once you get over the lighting and the slick graphics though, the rest of the game is pretty generic. The story is your basic Matrix type story, where you were shown the evil ways of the robots and are now trying to destroy them. As far as your character knows though, he is the last living human… so I don’t really know who he’s fighting for. I guess he just wants to cause some pain. With destruction in mind, you work your way through all the games levels blowing up the robots with your guns, grenades, and anything else you can get your grubby little fingers on. Like any other dual-stick shooter, you shoot what moves and hope that the things that don’t move will blow up.

As far as dual-stick shooters go, Revolt will provide more thrills and tough moments than many others in the genre, but most of the enjoyment will subside once you get past the lovely graphics. If you’re a fan of the genre you’ll have a ton of fun with Revolt, but there really aren’t any “wow” moments in the gameplay to warrant a universal buy.

The 4.2 update for iOS devices is rumored to be launching this week, and perhaps no machine is getting more fun new features than the iPad. While many of the additions merely bring the iPad in line with capabilities already possessed by the iPhone and iPod Touch, no one seems to be complaining. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s coming in the update.

ipad finger1 300x222 Here’s What’s New in iPad iOS 4.2 UpdateAirPlay – Owners will now be able to stream their pictures, videos and music directly from their iPad to their Apple TVs and AirPort Express, as well as to other AirPlay-compatible devices from third-party vendors.

AirPrint: With AirPrint you’ll now be able to wirelessly print from your iPad by allowing iOS 4.2 devices to discover printers on the local network. The only catch is you seem to need the newest version of Snow Leopard to make it work.

Folders: iPad users can now finally organize their apps into folders, with up to 20 apps in each folder.

Game Center: Now you can track Achievements and friends on any iOS device and brag about your amazing score regardless of what mobile device you’re carrying. The app is pretty much the same as what’s already available on other iOS machines.

Multitasking: Possibly the biggest new feature in iOS 4.2 is multitasking. Just like on the iPhone and iPod touch, a double click on the home button brings up a bar at the bottom of the screen with the last six apps opened. This allows users to switch between apps without having to go to the home screen first.

Also just like on the iPhone, swiping to the right on the multitasking panel brings up screen brightness and volume. Apple turned the orientation toggle on the top right of the device into a mute switch, so this area of the multitasking bar now lets you lock your iPad into the desired orientation.

Safari: The ‘+’ button for bookmarking sites is gone and has been replaced with a share button that includes the bookmarking functionality, but also allows you to compose an email with a link to the current page and to print the page with the help of AirPrint. The tab button now also shows how many open tabs you currently have.

Also new is the ability to search for text inside a page. The search feature in Safari now doesn’t just display search suggestions but also tells you how often your search terms appear on the page you are currently looking at. After clicking on one of these results, a new bar appears at the bottom of the browser screen that allows you to jump to all the instances of this keyword and also to refine your search.

Unified Email Inbox: See all your email in one inbox, even if you sync multiple email accounts with your iPad. Gmail accounts can also archive messages rather than deleting them, but if you do want to delete a message it requires going through a couple extra menu screens in order to do so.

So plenty of new toys available for iPad users to check out, now we just have to wait for Apple to throw the switch and make the update live. Once 4.2 is in the wild we will be sure and let you know so you can download it immediately.
