whiteiphone White iPhone 4 Spotted in NYC – Is It Real Or A Fake?

Just about every big name cell phone that hits the streets gets a huge amount of hype behind it. Of course, seeing how some companies get much more publicity than other, it should come as no surprise that some handsets have much more successful launches. One such example of this is with the Apple iPhone.

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that the iPhone 4’s release was quite highly publicized in just about media outlet in the book. Of course, not all of this was good press as the infamous iPhone 4 antenna gate issue was made very well know but we’ll save that for another time.

Another problem that plagued the iPhone 4 was the absence of the white model. At the time of the device’s announcement, Apple CEO Steve Jobs let us know that the white model would not be shipping along with the white. However, depsite this, some companies have been selling replacement front and back panels to transform your iPhone 4 into a white model.

What you see above was a white iPhone 4 spotted in New York City. According to the owner, this iPhone 4 is real and was given to him by someone within Apple. Also according ot the owner, the reason Apple has yet to release the white iPhone 4 is because the part manufacturers have been unable to match the home button’s white shade with the front panels.

Is this be believed? We aren’t quite sure but lets hope the white iPhone 4 makes it around sooner rather than later as before we know it the iPhone 5 will be rolling around.

Folks who use their iPhones to send naughty messages back and forth may be in for a rude awakening as Apple has recently filed an anti-sexting patent. Basically, the new feature would allow users to block “sexts” (text message containing sexual or otherwise explicit content), or any other content which they deem inappropriate. Users could also opt to have texts delivered, but with the explicit content filtered out before it reaches them.

iphone iphone 3g comparison 300x269 Apple Patents Anti Sexting Service“Systems, devices, and methods are provided for enabling a user to control the content of text-based messages sent to or received from an administered device,” reads the patent application. “In some embodiments, a message will be blocked (incoming or outgoing) if the message includes forbidden content. In other embodiments, the objectionable content is removed from the message prior to transmission or as part of the receiving process. The content of such a message is controlled by filtering the message based on defined criteria.”

The desire to clean up dirty language in text message falls right in line with Apple’s anti-porn stance, but this new patent is nowhere near as Orwellian as some of the company’s other policies. From the sound of things this will be an opt-in program, and will be aimed mainly at parents who want to restrict behavior of youngsters and teens who may be prone to sending flirtatious messages. In this case Big Brother Jobs isn’t looking directly over your shoulder, but rather peering at you from across the way using binoculars and a series of mirrors.

You know, we’ve had all sorts of KIRFtastic encounters while visiting China, but take this four-letter word to a whole new level and you get this: a Chinese clone of Steve Jobs. What’s actually happening here is Hong Kong MTR launching the latest release of its iOS subway app (which does augmented reality!), and to mark this special occasion, the company invited local celebrity Law Kar-ying to recreate Apple’s notorious reality distortion field. That said, unlike the real Slim Stevie, this dude was also giving away iPhone 4s to a few lucky audience members — just goes to show that not all clones are bad, mmkay. Video after the break.

pulse logo News Reading Application Pulse Raises $1 Million
Alphonso Labs is a Palo Alto based company that created an application called Pulse. Alphonso raised $1 million in seed funding from Redpoint Ventures, Greycroft Partners, Mayfield Fund, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Pulse is a news reader for the iPad and iPhone that Steve Jobs mentioned during a product demo at the Worldwide developers conference. The New York Times complained to Apple that Pulse was infringing on their content so it was taken off the App Store. Later Apple realized that Pulse was simply an RSS reader and was not scraping content. Pulse was founded by CEO Akshay Kothari.
