mafiawarslogo Zynga: Mafia Wars on Android This Month

When you think of gaming perhaps you think poker, maybe you think of the Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360 or hell, maybe you even think hunting. However, thanks to the popularity of Facebook and its partners, gaming is quickly beginning to be associated with online games like FarmVille and Mafia Wars, no matter how bad we don’t want it to be.

Regardless of our dislike associated with this movement, there is no denying the fact that FarmVille, Mafia Wars and their creators Zynga are immensely successful. Those of you who have hopped on both the Zygna and Android bandwagon will be happy to hear that the company has recently announced their intentioned to bring Mafia Wars to the Android platform sometime this month.

The game has already been available in app form on the iOS platform for quite some time but now it seems like it’s Android’s turn to receive some love from the Mafia (Wars, that is).

O Car front 540x322 280x166 Oxygen Audio shows off the O’car systemI’m not sure whether this is a leaked image or an actual release, but this is the O’car from Oxygen Audio.

As you can see, it is a car stereo that has a port designed just for the iPhone and can swivel in any angle. So now the iPhone is on your car. I suppose that we all saw this coming. After all, Guys in California put the iPad in a car, BMW seems ready for an in-car revolution, and Soundman also has one.

As you may have guessed, there will be apps for everything needed behind the wheel, and it will automatically dim audio programs for voice prompts if turn-by-turn directions or receiving phone calls is needed.

The O’car will debut at CES 2011, and then it will show up in the first quarter of 2011 for $299.

androidgingerbread Android Gingerbread To be Google’s Next Major Mobile Platform Release

Google’s Android is one of the most popular mobile operating systems in the world with its install base growing each and every day. While the platform is a quite capable one in its current iteration, there is much room to improve. Currently, Android’s most recent wide spread release is version 2.2 also known as Froyo. However, Google is looking to one up Froyo with Android Gingerbread.

Unfortunately, at this point not much is known of Android ‘Gingerbread’ as it was only just made official today. And by official I mean Google ordered a Gingerbread lawn ornament for their Mountain View, California headquarters.

While not much has been made official, there are some rumors floating around about what Google plans to add to Gingerbread. I won’t go too far into them as I don’t want to get anyone too excited just yet but rumors suggest the new platform will include support for Google’s recently launched Google TV platform, built-in support for video calls (as opposed to a third party application) and further hardware acceleration. Heck, we don’t even know for sure if it will be version 2.3 or 3.0.

As I said, these are just rumors at this point so take it with a grain of salt but definitely be prepared for Gingerbread. Unfortunately, at the rate we’re going, it will be quite some time before hardware manufacturers actually get around to releasing Gingerbread for popular smart phones already on the market.

Remember to check back as this one unfolds.

zynga logo Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Zynga Due To Leaked Private Information
St. Paul, Minnesota resident Nancy Graf has filed a lawsuit against Zynga. Zynga allegedly leaked private user information from Facebook to advertising companies. Law firm Edelson McGuire sent out a press release about the lawsuit. Graf is seeking “monetary relief” for those who feel that their data was wrongly shared. There is no specific amounted. The leak affected about 218 million Facebook users. Below is the press release:

Facebook User Sues FarmVille Maker, Zynga, for Violating the Privacy Rights of Millions of Americans

Class action suit filed after Zynga shared the personal Facebook information of millions of Americans with Internet tracking companies.

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ — A class action lawsuit filed yesterday challenges Zynga’s alleged practice of illegally sharing the Facebook user data of its customers with advertisers and data brokers.

The lawsuit alleges that Zynga, which currently makes six of the top ten Facebook games, collected the Facebook data of its 218 million users and shared it with advertisers and data brokers in violation of federal law and Zynga’s contract with Facebook.

The lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in San Francisco, Calif., is brought by Nancy Graf of St. Paul, Minnesota. The class action seeks monetary relief for those whose data was wrongly shared, and injunctive relief to prevent continued privacy abuses.

“This appears to be another example of an online company failing the American public with empty promises to respect individual privacy rights,” explained Michael Aschenbrener of Edelson McGuire LLC, co-lead attorney for the class action. “Companies large and small need to learn to follow through on their privacy promises or risk having consumers decide that it is simply not worth it to use their services,” added Kassra Nassiri of Nassiri & Jung LLP, co-lead attorney for the lawsuit.

Aschenbrener and Nassiri are also co-lead class counsel in another case against Facebook that alleges massive privacy violations.

zuckerberg logo Paul Ceglia Attempts To Use Mark Zuckerberg’s New York Residence As Argument In Facebook Lawsuit
Paul Ceglia is a man in New York that is claiming that he is entitled to 84% ownership in social networking website Facebook.com. Ceglia’s lawyers are arguing that since Mark Zuckerberg lives out of a duffel bag, the lawsuit should be tried in the state of New York. They claim Zuckerberg has not set his legal roots in California.

In a separate court case in Massachusetts, Zuckerberg was considered a legal resident of New York in 2004. “He was living the same sort of existence the evidence shows now, a sort of duffel bag, apartment-to-apartment, transient life,” said Ceglia’s lawyer James Grable. “He’s got one foot in New York and one foot in California.”

“[Zuckerberg] is a 26-year-old man who has spent almost a quarter of his life building this company,” said the Facebook CEO’s lawyer Orin Synder in court. “There’s not a shred of evidence that he is living out of a duffel bag anywhere, period.”

Zuckerberg’s lawyers called Ceglia and the lawsuit a “fraud.” Ceglia wants the Facebook CEO tried in the state court because the federal court would not have jurisdiction if Zuckerberg was also a New York resident.

Ceglia brought the original case the state court. Before it was moved to the federal court, a state judge issued a restraining order that temporarily froze Facebook’s assets.

Ceglia claims he hired Zuckerberg as a work-for-hire when he was 19 years old in 2003. Ceglia paid Zuckerberg $1,000 to do his computer work. Zuckerberg then supposedly convinced Ceglia to invest in a project he was working on called The Face Book and The Page Book. Ceglia said he has an original contract, but he has not yet produced those documents in court.

What makes this court case even more interesting is that Zuckerberg’s lawyers never denied a contract ever being signed. It has also been pointed out that Ceglia is a convicted felon with a track record of scamming honest people.

Zuckerberg currently lives in an apartment in California with a month-to-month agreement and does not own any property according to the court case. Grable also pointed out that Zuckerberg made a $100 million donation to the Newark school system instead of California.

Synder countered with the fact that Zuckerberg has always lived a short walk from Facebook’s headquarters since 2004 and voted in California. Zuckerberg also received his bills and registered his car in California.

The judge did not indicate whose side would be taken in the argument. Judge Richard Arcara questioned Grable’s point about how Zuckerberg could live in his parent’s home. The judge also question why a man running such a big company does not own any property in California.
