Android – Iphone – Applications

We’ve seen a lot of different iPhone stands come and go, but probably one of the better ones I’ve tackled of late is both simple and useful, and goes by the name of the TRTLStand from the folks at TRTLBot.

The TRTLStand is a simple, basic affair that serves as both a bumper case to keep the Antennagate issues on most iPhone 4s at bay, but comes with a special extra feature: a rear-mounted kickstand that drops back with a flick of a fingertip over a notch that holds it in place. Next thing you know, you’ve got an angled support for your conversations or various other touch screen endeavors.

It’s spectacularly simple, with just a simple notch holding a simple kickstand in place to turn it from a flat surface to an angled one. And yes, it will actually work with your iPod Touch as well, though it is a bit tight of a fit. It may be nothing more than a glorified bumper case, but it’s also one hell of a good bumper case. If you’re going to be simple, then be great, and no one will ever forget you. It worked for Forrest Gump, and it works for the TRTLStand. Doubly so since one of these costs a mere $29.95.

So if you’re looking for a new bumper case for your iPhone 4 that will give you plenty of extra utility, check out the TRTLStand from the folks at TRTLBot. Simple and basic, sure, but also very, very useful.

Google unveiled a new tool for developers today called Swiffy — a simple converter that takes .SWF Flash files and transforms them into iPhone-friendly HTML5 code. It’s the latest experimental application to hit Google Labs, and while it works best with simple Flash animations, its results are rather impressive.

Anyone can use Swiffy by simply visiting swiffy.googlelabs.com. There you can upload an SWF file and quickly convert it into HTML5…(…)

Just before Apple’s big iOS 5 reveal at WWDC a few weeks ago, rumors began circulating that Apple was planning to integrate Twitter right into the system. At the time we didn’t know whether the rumors were true or not, let alone how deeply integrated it would eventually turn out to be.

When Steve Jobs and his band of merry men took to the stage at WWDC, we finally saw what Apple had in store for us, but despite iOS 5 largely hitting the spot we couldn’t help but feel let down by the fabled Twitter integration, at least in its current form…(…)
