Apple has just annoucned today that an update for their iOS mobile platform is now available. Version 4.0.1 brings with improvements to the method the devices uses when calculating the number of signal bars to display, and that’s about it.
You may be wondering if this update will fix the infamous reception/antenna problem that has plagued the iPhone 4 ever since it was released on June 24th. I’m here to tell you that no, the problem is still apparant, the signal bars are just more accurate at displaying reception strength.
This leads me to believe Apple is unable to fix the problem with a software update just as we had thought in the past. Let’s hope they announce something big during that press conference tomorrow or they will be sure to lose legions of loyalists.
