Apparently, the Chronic Dev Team is having issues making GreenPois0n work on Mac and it might take a few days to get it done. Stay tuned as we’ll keep you informed when it comes out.

In the meanwhile, you can always check our GreenPois0n guide for more information on how to use GreenPois0n to jailbreak your iPhone.

Ghostwriter1 200x300 Ghostwriter Review Ghostwriter is a simple photo editing app that lets you add certain ’spooky’ effects to the photos you’ve taken of your friends and family, and lets you share them. It’s not meant to be the world’s most powerful photo editing app, but it offers a variety of spooky Halloween-flavored effects which will definitely amuse kids. It is a good option for a limited budget to share in the fun of making your costumed photos just a bit creepier.

What you’ll first want to do is actually go into the settings. You’ll have to select how you want to edit your photo before you even import it. This is one of the few problems I had with the functionality of this app. Most, if not all, photo editing apps let you import your source, and then allow users to edit the effects from there. Nevertheless, you’ll want to choose your Spooky Editing options from within the settings before you import or take your photo.

There are a small selection of options to choose from. Ghostwriter4 199x300 Ghostwriter ReviewFirst and probably most popular will be adding text – there are six preset messages, such as “Trick or Treat,” “I Want Candy,” “Something Wicked This Way Comes” and more. However, do you have the option to add your own message as well. From here you can select one of the two fonts available. After you’ve chosen the text, go ahead and choose if you want some ‘Goulish Miasma,’ or other effects like ‘Diabolical Light.’

Finally, a few other options let you decide if the picture will display with a sound effect, if you want to save the originals (for when you take a photo from within the app), or reset all your options. Once you’ve make your selections, go back out to the main page, import your photo, and see your creation! You can play the sound effects over and over, if you like. You can edit the text at this point if you’re not happy with what it says (but not the font or effects). Finally, go ahead and either save your spooky creation or email it to a friend.

That’s Ghostwriter in a nutshell, a simple holiday app for Halloween – pick it up if you’re interested in a simple, easy way to make spooky theme pictures for your Halloween memories!

As the site says “Put down your iPad, pick up a knife and carve a homage to your favorite app.” App-o-Lanterns, started by a group of enthusiastic app developers and fans, is a site that’s offering a fun, unique Pumpkin Carving contest this Halloween. It’s a way for fans to show what their favorite apps are, and to express their creativity. It’s also a really unique way for developers to try and get some attention – it’s an interesting way to show off their app, all wrapped up into a contest which gives anyone the ability to win a great prize!

All you need to do is carve up a pumpkin that pays homage to your favorite App (or if you’re a developer, your own App!) and send in the photo to the site – they’ll add to to the blog and you could win one of five prizes, depending on your category entry.

appolantern 300x251 Carve up an App o Lantern, win an AppleTV!There are three kinds of submissions: Fan Submission (this is from everyday joes who are just carving up their favorite app), Developer Submission (Use a App-o-Lantern as a showpiece for your app!), or Kids Submission (if you’re under 13!).

The prizes, in addition to having one of the nerdiest pumpkins on the block, are as follows. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges.

Kids Submission: Promo codes for some of the App-o-Lantern Sponsored apps. Fan Submission: Also win Promo codes from App-o-Lantern’s Sponsors. Developer Submissions: You get 100k ad impressions within the Sponsor’s app. Best Back-story: Come up with some sort of unique take about your App-o-Lantern and you could win a Promo Code for the Story Tracker app.

But here’s the Big Grand Prize: Best In Row!
If you make your submission and you get the most Tweets + Facebook Shares from their blog you’re going to win an AppleTV!

Obviously you should head over to their site and read the full contest rules, and definitely check out the submissions so far. But more importantly, I really think that you should head out to the pumpkin patch, grab your power tools and carve up a tribute to your favorite app! I’ve already got a few ideas of my own — good luck to all the entries!

jon steinberg How 23andMe Saved My Wife
Beginning today, you’ll see an interview that Jill and I did for CBS. You can click here to play it. It’ll play this week all over local news stations.

On a flyer, like many of you, I ordered two 23andMe DNA kits on World DNA Day. Jill’s came back with the BRCA1 mutation, which drastically raises the lifetime odds of breast cancer to 80%. With cancer in her family, we met with specialist throughout the city and took the preventative steps described in the segment.
We did this testing by chance. But we’ve become huge advocates of it in conjunction with counseling, repeat testing, and a study of family history. The surgery is a rough one, but as Jill put it: “it’s that or cancer.”

Anyway we wanted to share this, as we feel that testing is important for those, who are at risk. We believe it’s extended Jill’s life to a normal ripe old age, and we wanted people who weren’t aware to get this information. Please don’t hesitate to reach for me or Jill if this is something impacting your family. We just went through it can’t thank our surgeons Dr. Freya Schnabel and Dr. Jamie Levine, as all the wonderful nurses and counselors. It’s been very tough, but being on the side is an enormous relief.

palmpre2leak Palm Pre 2 Gets Allegedly Pictured With Flatter Screen, 1GHz Processor And More

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that just yesterday we told you about the next smartphone out of Palm appropriately named the Palm Pre 2. At the time, we did not have any pictures of the device as it had only recently been listed on a French wireless carrier’s website.

Today, however, more news out of France shows us what appears to be the actual Palm Pre 2. This device, as you can see, features a flatter screen much like the original listing told us. Other hardware specs including a 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM that will help the Pre 2 keep up with other hard hitting devices already on the market.

At this point there’s no telling if this is real but from the looks of it it looks pretty legit. We’ll keep you posted on any other happenings as the story unfolds.

If this is true, it will be interesting to see how HP further utilizes webOS. We’ve heard in the past that they plan to bring it to tablets and printers among other things but that has yet to be seen.
