The iPad is one of the hottest tablets on the market but is definitely not for everyone. In fact, without a physical keyboard it’s hard to justify the product as something for highly productive enterprising individuals. Luckily, there is a whole slew of accessories on the market that looks to change that ranging from Apple‘s official Bluetooth keyboard to third party accessories like the one pictured above.
This iPad case has just passed through the FCC and, as you can see, essentially turns the device into a laptop. Coming from Dongguan Siliten Electronics, it features a Blluetooth keyboard and even a stand making it easy to use without, you know, falling over.
There’s no word on when this will be available or at what price but, as always, we’ll keep you posted.

XtremeMac has been crankin’ out iPod docks for years, and now former CEO Gary Bart has launched Stem Innovation, a company dedicated exclusively to iOS accessories. For its first trick, Bart and company have introduced TimeCommand which (as its name implies) goes beyond the whole dock thing and comes across as a control station for the bedroom. Among its many charms are iPhone / iPod / iPad compatibility, the ability to control your mood lighting (including a dimmer and a “wake by light” feature), battery backup (don’t miss work, even if the power goes out), an app with Internet Radio playback, and something called Stem:Sonic iQ digital signal processing. Available now at the Apple store for $100.
TimeCommand dock turns your iPad into a very pricey dimmer switch originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 11 Dec 2010 01:02:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

It was easy to fall in love with Broken Sword when it was released earlier this year. The intriguing storyline and unique gameplay drew players in and refused to let them go, and now we’ve received word that a follow-up title is poised to appear for iOS any day now. Series developer Revolution has announced that Broken Sword – the Smoking Mirror: Remastered will debut for iOS devices “very shortly,” with a PC and Mac release to follow early next year.
For the new title the folks at Revolution are promising “Fully animated facial expressions, enhanced graphics throughout, high quality music as well as a context-sensitive hint system, and diary.” The game will also feature Dropbox integration, letting you store your save files in the cloud and then resume play from a different device, letting you jump from say an iPhone to iPad with ease.
For those interested, here’s a quick breakdown of the story, directly from Revolution:
“The story sees the return of George Stobbart and Nico Collard. While investigating a ruthless drug gang, journalist Nico Collard unexpectedly comes across an ancient artifact. Little can she know that the ornately carved obsidian stone will lead her, and her adventuring companion George Stobbart, into a mysterious escapade of intrigue and deceit, in which they must overcome powerful forces and antagonists who will stop at nothing to fulfill their evil ambitions.”
The franchise has long been beloved on the PC, and its transition to iOS has been incredibly smooth. The original saw stellar reviews from both critics and users, and from the looks of things this latest entry into the franchise takes a good thing and makes it even better. We’ll keep our peepers peeled for more info and let you know just as soon as The latest edition of Broken Sword becomes available.

Dungeon Hunter was a true critical and commercial success when it launched last year, and now Gameloft is primed to give fans more of what they’re begging for. The company has announced that Dungeon Hunter 2, the next entry in the highly-anticipated franchise, is now available in the App Store.
The new title features a host of upgrades and new features, among them highly-tuned visuals, Game Center support and four player co-op. Players who want to join up with friends (or strangers) can set up multiplayer matches via either local Wi-Fi or over Bluetooth connections. On the gameplay front, Dungeon Hunter 2 boasts a world five times bigger than the original, three difficulty levels, multiple character classes and skills and hundreds of unique items and weapons. No half-hearted expansions here, this is a true blue sequel.
The game looks extremely entertaining and should be quite a treat for action RPG fans. The ability to play solo or with friends is a nice enticement, and the visuals have an impressive, World of Warcraft look to them. Now the only question is with the recent launch of Infinity Blade, might Dungeon Hunter 2 be overlooked? Normally we would happily report that there’s plenty of RPG love to go around, but both titles are a bit pricey and are essentially gunning for the same audience, so there’s a very real chance many consumers might be forced to choose one or the other. In this situation do you choose the sexy newcomer who’s good for a fling and may be something more, or opt for the steady friend who has proven they’re worthwhile but maybe isn’t quite as exciting? It’s definitely a tough call, and one which will likely weigh heavily on a few gamers’ minds. The good news is you really can’t go wrong either way, and if you can have both then so much the better.

Sirius XM has just negotiated a new deal with Howard Stern that will keep the controversial shock jock on satellite radio through at least 2015. Among the provisions of the deal is a clause which will allow Stern to stream his show online and to mobile devices, including the iPhone. Sounds like your morning commute may have just gotten a lot raunchier.
When Stern signed his initial contract with Sirius in 2004, his show was truly exclusive and forbidden to be streaming to any terrestrial radio station, website or mobile device. That meant that even folks who downloaded the Sirius XM app and subscribed to the service couldn’t listen to Stern’s show because of the clauses in his contract. Now that restriction is being lifted and the host is clear to stream his show to a mobile audience.
What is unclear at this point is how soon Stern’s show will be made available to Sirius XM mobile listeners, as his current deal doesn’t technically expire until December 31. While the satellite radio service very well could make Stern’s show immediately available, it would also make sense to wait out the holiday season and launch the show alongside the new year. Either way we’ll have to wait and see.
An interesting consequence of this decision is that it in some way undermines Sirius XM’s own portable receivers, which previously did carry Stern’s show along with all other available channels. Now that Stern will be streaming to the iPhone, there’s very little incentive for consumers to pick up another receiver. Of course, Sirius XM still manages to keep the subscription fees either way, so it may not be too big a blow after all. In any event subscribers should be pleased, as now they have yet another way to enjoy their favorite foul-mouthed radio host and all his decidedly not politically correct antics.
