For those of you who don’t know, yesterday marked the first anniversary of Angry Birds, a game so popular that it sparked Angry Birds Day, which was quite high on Yahoo searches.
The day was commemorated by celebrations in multiple cities. Some of these cities saw some lively celebrations, like the ones in New York. Others, like a small gathering in Atlanta, were not so well-gathered.
I think it is a good sign a game that is one year old can have its own unofficial holiday. I’m surprised that Bejeweled doesn’t have one.

Some of you remember the HTC EVO, which gave 111,000 new users for Sprint despite the appearance of the iPhone 4.
It would appear that the 4G has some sort of sequel with the EVO Shift 4G. We don’t know how accurate this is a picture as this is a leak, but you can see there is no front-facing camera, but there is a silver trackpad and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
So, is this the legitimate thing? We shall see.

I’ve heard of Costco offering good deals on mobile phones before, such as the Droid 2 and even the iPhone.
It would appear that this era is about to come to an end as Costco is not planning on selling Apple products. That means no iPhones, no MacBooks, and no iPads. You won’t be able to get an iTunes Gift card.
Considering that “Costo is the largest of the membership warehouse stores and the third largest retailer overall in the US”, you would think Apple would want to continue to supply them with merchandise. A move like this could seriously cut into a company’s finances. For Apple, they probably won’t even notice.
There doesn’t seem to be word, rumored or otherwise, why this deal was broken.

I’ve recently had a chance to try out a lot of products from Kensington, and I will report about many of them throughout the week.
This one is a simple device that puts a USB port where your in-dash lighter is. It comes in handy for when you want to recharge your iPod, BlackBerry, or other mobile devices that run on USB power.
You should be able to get this very small and very useful device for about $9.99 on the Kensington site. I recommend it for very long trips, like the one I’ll be taking to CES in January.

Don’t have the airspace required for an AR.Drone? Gearing up for its CES 2011 debut, Sphero is a small, robotic toy ball made by Orbotix, and controlled remotely via Bluetooth and your smartphone’s tilt sensor. A ball that moves by itself? Call us lazy (too lazy to roll a ball even), but we think this is a toy whose time has come. Sure, the whole thing is pretty straightforward, although we hope that once iPhone and Android developers get ahold of that open API we’ll see plenty in the way of augmented reality gameplay: a maze or a racing game of some sort would make this thing quite coveted, in our opinion. Catch a video of the prototype in action after the break.
