Android – Iphone – Applications

Food. FOOD. Food. FOOD.

“Food” is one of the most beautiful words I have ever learned to say. I like food. I love food. In fact, one of my hobbies is to try to find and taste the food of the highest quality wherever I am, whether it’s American, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Mexican etc.

And then I came across Zagat to Go now on iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. If you are a seeker of good food or just like to eat out in general, this app is perfect. This app is also useful when you are traveling and have no clue where to find good food in a new area.

With Zagat to go, you get to see all the restaurants’ ratings and reviews from over 45 trusted guides. All major cities seem to be covered. The price($9.99) apparently looks less than the price of a single guide. The app’s exclusive offline mode lets you browse restaurants without any reception! That’s actually a really cool aspect of this app by the way. All that information without reception. Think about that.

Function wise, just like the website, the app includes advanced search, filtering, reservation, recommendation, ratings, reviews, maps, photos etc. Zagat to Go’s rating is famous for its reliability, and this also holds true for the app. Overall, this is a great app.

DC Comics is famous for our well-known super-heroes such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and other countless characters. And now, the comics finally comes to iPad, iPhone, & iPod Touch!

While DC Comics is not the first comics publisher to do this(Marvel comics already has its own app by Comixology), the DC Comics app is also built by Comixology and has many of the same functions that Marvel has, such as letting you purchase individual series and have push-notification for new series alerts. Customized reading options, such as the guided view by panel and full page view, do exist as well.

So I guess the biggest comics publisher going digital really means that we are deep, deep in a new technological age. Anyway, we don’t have to walk or drive to a store to buy the comics anymore, and you can read countless comics just about anywhere with a single devices. iPad definitely makes the experience even better.

A comics follower should definitely check this out.

In a world where basic information is open and at hand for everyone to see, there’s no excuse for being ignorant of the world around us.  There’s no doubt that humanity is heading closer and closer towards globalization.  Originally published as a website by the C.I.A., the World Factbook contains the basic economic, political, and social information that should be kept in mind when we interact with the world outside of the U.S.  The World Factbook 2010 app brings hundreds of pages of information into the palm of your hand.

This app includes tabs for all U.S.-recognized nations as of 2010, each with an introduction and detailed information regarding the country.  The information provided by this app includes geography, demographics, government and politics, economy, military, communications, and transport.  The app also provides you with the national flag and a map of the nation (plain map or google maps).  With this app at hand, you’ll be one step closer to understanding the world as a whole.  And that’s a good thing considering that technology is pushing us closer together as a world.
