Some of you remember the HTC EVO, which gave 111,000 new users for Sprint despite the appearance of the iPhone 4.
It would appear that the 4G has some sort of sequel with the EVO Shift 4G. We don’t know how accurate this is a picture as this is a leak, but you can see there is no front-facing camera, but there is a silver trackpad and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
So, is this the legitimate thing? We shall see.

Google has been in the news quite a bit these past couple of days focusing mostly on the Nexus S handset. However, another product that is quite popular is a little thing called Android 2.3. This edition of Android has been hyped extensively and is just over the horizon for some of the most popular handsets. However, if you don’t want to wait for hardware manufacturers to release the official version you’re in luck.
Actually, you’re in luck if you have the HTC HD2 – a device that doesn’t even run Google’s Android mobile OS. The reason I say this is because Android 2.3 has been ported to the HTC HD2, as you can see above. Then again, you aren’t exactly in luck as the port isn’t yet available considering it’s a very new development but it should definitely be out soon.
If you want to keep tabs on this head over to the XDA-Developer’s forum thread, here.

We just told you that the latest version of Android, version 2.3, had been ported to the HTC HD2 but what about the people who are already running Android? Well, it looks like these folk are in luck as well as it was made known that an Android 2.3 ROM has been ported to popular Android powered devices like the HTC EVO 4G, HTC Droid Eris and the HTC Wildfire.
While this port is available for the general public who is willing to root your device make note that this build is made for developmental testing purposes only. This means that if you are willing to actually to port over one of these early builds you were surely be greeted with a buggy experience.
Remember folks, this time especially, proceed at your own risk. However, if you are confident in your skills (or perhaps quite uninformed) head here for the full breakdown of devices with Gingerbread ports.

Thanks to top notch engineers at Google Android has become one of the most critically acclaimed mobile platforms of all time. Not only that, but each reoccurring release is highly sought. Now, Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2 is the most current version of the mobile OS that is widely available to consumers with ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 just over the horizon.
However, it seems that Gingerbread has come sooner than we thought as reports have surfaced today that say the Android 2.3 update is going out to Nexus One devices now. This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering Google supports the Nexus One directly (software wise) so it should be quite some time before other devices grab the update.
If you get a notification of an OTA system update, let us know in the comments.
