For those of you who want some MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) on your mobile might want to check into UFC (not WWE) Undisputed 2010.
The game allows you to go up against 25 of the best UFC fighters in the world, all with hand swipes like kicks, punches, and takedowns. There is an Exhibition Mode, Tournament Mode, Leaderboard system, and Social Networking Connectivity.
You should be able to get it at the iTunes store for about $1.99.
This looks like a fun game on iTunes known as A Moon for the Sky.
I suppose that the word for this app/game would be called a physics puzzler, and involves the user to draw a line to make a trampoline to send your character higher and higher and collect some stellar treasures.
Play about 18 levels and costs $1.99 for the iPad version. For a limited time, it is about $0.99 for the iPad, and the same price for the iPhone version.
XtremeMac has been crankin’ out iPod docks for years, and now former CEO Gary Bart has launched Stem Innovation, a company dedicated exclusively to iOS accessories. For its first trick, Bart and company have introduced TimeCommand which (as its name implies) goes beyond the whole dock thing and comes across as a control station for the bedroom. Among its many charms are iPhone / iPod / iPad compatibility, the ability to control your mood lighting (including a dimmer and a “wake by light” feature), battery backup (don’t miss work, even if the power goes out), an app with Internet Radio playback, and something called Stem:Sonic iQ digital signal processing. Available now at the Apple store for $100.
It was easy to fall in love with Broken Sword when it was released earlier this year. The intriguing storyline and unique gameplay drew players in and refused to let them go, and now we’ve received word that a follow-up title is poised to appear for iOS any day now. Series developer Revolution has announced that Broken Sword – the Smoking Mirror: Remastered will debut for iOS devices “very shortly,” with a PC and Mac release to follow early next year.
For the new title the folks at Revolution are promising “Fully animated facial expressions, enhanced graphics throughout, high quality music as well as a context-sensitive hint system, and diary.” The game will also feature Dropbox integration, letting you store your save files in the cloud and then resume play from a different device, letting you jump from say an iPhone to iPad with ease.
For those interested, here’s a quick breakdown of the story, directly from Revolution:
“The story sees the return of George Stobbart and Nico Collard. While investigating a ruthless drug gang, journalist Nico Collard unexpectedly comes across an ancient artifact. Little can she know that the ornately carved obsidian stone will lead her, and her adventuring companion George Stobbart, into a mysterious escapade of intrigue and deceit, in which they must overcome powerful forces and antagonists who will stop at nothing to fulfill their evil ambitions.”
The franchise has long been beloved on the PC, and its transition to iOS has been incredibly smooth. The original saw stellar reviews from both critics and users, and from the looks of things this latest entry into the franchise takes a good thing and makes it even better. We’ll keep our peepers peeled for more info and let you know just as soon as The latest edition of Broken Sword becomes available.
Dungeon Hunter was a true critical and commercial success when it launched last year, and now Gameloft is primed to give fans more of what they’re begging for. The company has announced that Dungeon Hunter 2, the next entry in the highly-anticipated franchise, is now available in the App Store.
The new title features a host of upgrades and new features, among them highly-tuned visuals, Game Center support and four player co-op. Players who want to join up with friends (or strangers) can set up multiplayer matches via either local Wi-Fi or over Bluetooth connections. On the gameplay front, Dungeon Hunter 2 boasts a world five times bigger than the original, three difficulty levels, multiple character classes and skills and hundreds of unique items and weapons. No half-hearted expansions here, this is a true blue sequel.
The game looks extremely entertaining and should be quite a treat for action RPG fans. The ability to play solo or with friends is a nice enticement, and the visuals have an impressive, World of Warcraft look to them. Now the only question is with the recent launch of Infinity Blade, might Dungeon Hunter 2 be overlooked? Normally we would happily report that there’s plenty of RPG love to go around, but both titles are a bit pricey and are essentially gunning for the same audience, so there’s a very real chance many consumers might be forced to choose one or the other. In this situation do you choose the sexy newcomer who’s good for a fling and may be something more, or opt for the steady friend who has proven they’re worthwhile but maybe isn’t quite as exciting? It’s definitely a tough call, and one which will likely weigh heavily on a few gamers’ minds. The good news is you really can’t go wrong either way, and if you can have both then so much the better.
