Owners of the iOS edition of Street Fighter IV are in for a treat, as an upcoming update of the game will add Sagat to the ever-growing list of fighters on the roster. This comes after Capcom already added Zangief, Cammy, E. Honda and C. Viper, so the app version of the title is slowly adding nearly all the characters from the console editions of the game. At any rate, fear the Tiger Uppercut!
Also being included in the update is a new take on local matchmaking. Now, anytime two players who are running the game and have Bluetooth enabled get within broadcast proximity of one another the games will auto-connect in the name of some crazy multiplayer fighting. This automatic connection will make it easier for competitors to quickly jump into a match and get right down to the important stuff: beating the ever-loving snot out of one another until an iPhone is hurled in frustration.
We continue to be impressed by just how substantially Capcom has supported the iOS version of Street Figher IV in the months since its release. The parade of new characters has kept our interest level in the game quite high, and the constant addition of extra content and tweaking of modes makes the game hard to put down even after you think you’ve done it all. The strategy employed by Capcom shows us that they’re really taking mobile gaming seriously, and could easily emerge as one of the top studios in the mobile games space. We’re already extremely excited to see what they have in mind for other major franchises on iOS, because if past performance is any indication we’re in for a real treat. In the meantime, begin familiarizing yourself with Sagat’s moveset so that when the update launches you can pit him in a match against Ryu and get some sweet revenge for that scar across Sagat’s chest.

Everyone loves Worms right? No, I don’t mean the parasites, I mean those cuddly Worms from Team 17. They’re back and they’re just as fun as ever in Worms 2: Armageddon.
Typical Worms gameplay remains here. You control a team of cute worms who must wipe out opposing worms. At your disposal is an array of different weaponry. There’s the humble shotgun and bazooka, but then there’s the quirky Holy Hand Grenade, the baseball bat, the ninja rope, the sheep and the er…concrete donkey. It’s certainly a different way of wiping out the opposition, I’ll give it that.
Worms 2: Armageddon offers a variety of different modes to play, all with fundamentally the same aim: destroy the enemy. There’s the single player campaign mode with 30 different missions to keep you interested, a practice mode and a body count mode whereby a steady stream of foes come at you and it’s a matter of survival. Then there’s the multiplayer mode which offers a hotseat/pass around option and a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi mode. It’s occasionally slightly laggy but it works well for the most part.
It’s a similar case with the controls which work well but occasionally falter and are imprecise but it’s forgivable. Much like the previous Worms game, movement is a matter of tapping while aiming involves dragging your finger to the appropriate position. It’s when it comes to jumping and back flipping (one tap and two taps respectively) that things can be fiddly and annoying.
Despite these problems, Worms 2: Armageddon can be forgiven because it’s so much fun. It’s typical quirky Worms after all. You can create your own teams and personalise them how you want, you can even unlock hats and weapons by completing the campaign missions.
Overall, Worms 2 is terrific fun. It’s not a bad price at all for a product that offers so much to do. The campaign missions will keep you busy for a long while and body count is excellent fun to drop in on from time to time. While the controls might be a little imprecise, the rest of the iPhone conversion is excellent. If you’ve enjoyed previous Worms games, you’ll love this.
Sure your iPhone or iPad can act as a GPS, eReader, or game center but can you control your television with it? As of today, you can in fact, so long as you’re a Comcast Xfinity subscriber and own a compatible digital service. Or, you own an AppleTV, but that’s another article. Comcast has launched its new Xfinity app which allows users to browse digital content, watch On Demand videos and even change the channel right from their iOS device. How jealous will your friends be when you whip out your iPhone to peruse the cable guide and turn on the big game?
Right now some folks may be wondering why they should care, considering the fact that they can just use their regular TV remote to browse their cable content. The major appeal of this new app lies in both new search tools and future promise. With the app, users can type in the name of the show they want to watch and Xfinity will instantly retrieve all the relevant listings. This new approach is so much easier than randomly scrolling through channels and times looking for one particular piece of programming. Also cool is the ability to instantly invite friends to watch content with you, so no one ever has to worry about missing Glee ever again.
Comcast is also promising big things in the future, including expanded remote functionality and even video streaming right from your iOS device. Having access to the On Demand library instantly on your device will be a great addition, and if we could watch some of our favorite shows right on the iPad or iPhone without paying extra to download them that would be incredible. We don’t yet know what exactly Comcast has in mind for the future, but we’re excited to see where the service goes.
The app is available now and it’s free so if you’re a Comcast subscriber what are you waiting for? This is something definitely worth getting excited over.
Hanukkah is almost here! In less than two weeks, the Festival of Lights will commence…but have you thought about Hanukkah cards yet?
Inevitably, buying (or making) a dozen or more holiday cards feels superfluous and even a little silly. Should you really be spending this much money on cards? And what if you’re giving a digital gift, like a gift certificate—is a physical card necessary? E-cards are cool, but let’s admit it; most websites make mailing digital cards a hassle.
Happy Hanukkah is yet another app attempting to bridge this dilema. It’s almost an e-card app, in that you’re sending a pretty picture instead of a few lines of text, but the image is embedded and thus requires no clicking through to an outside site.
The app contains over 70 different cards to choose from, featuring dreidels, menorahs, hanukkiahs, and (naturally) the words, “Happy Hanukkah!” From the Happy Hanukkah app, you can pick which image to use, and then drop into into an email. Then, you can add a bit of personalized text above the embedded image if you want to before sending the virtual card on its way.
Simple? Certainly, but that’s the aim of Happy Hanukkah anyway.
The below video showcases some of the different images included in the app. If it appeals to you, check it out on the App Store for $0.99. Now if only it could buy presents for you, too…
If there is one thing that we have way too many of now, it is passwords. So I suppose we need a mobile device for that.
The Password Memory Keeper is a handheld device that can hold usernames, PIN numbers, and passwords for up to 50 accounts. You might be wondering if someone could get a hold of your life if they somehow got a hold of the Keeper, but you will have to remember one password to access the vital information in the Keeper.
