iAwesomizer is a photo editing App that takes your portraits and makes them ‘Awesome,’ according to the devloper. However I’d say more like ‘Wacky’ and even then not all of the time.

Awesomizer1 199x300 iAwesomizer ReviewThere are pages of of preset filters, and once you click on each you can slightly edit the effect on each photo. However, and this is where my issues come in, it doesn’t always work. If you want to add giant eyes, you’re relying on the App itself to detect the eyes, and unless the portrait was dead-on and dead-center, I had a difficult time getting it to add any effects at all.

While the user interface is really simple and the effects are quite interesting, the lack of instructions in the app might leave you a wandering around. If you do figure out how to open a picture, apply the filters, save it or crop it (which are buttons at the bottom of the main screen – it’s not too difficult to figure out), and if you’ve manged to edit a photo that you want to share, your options will be to save to your phone, send via MMS or email only. There’s no additional social integration built in to this version of iAwesomizer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t share your pictures, just that you’ll have to save them to your phone first.

While I’ve used several different iPhone apps for photo editing, I do like the trend of making some just for face edits – we’re seeing more and more Apps come out with templates that incorporate smudge, drag, and other neat filters that make our pics a little bit more fun. But, sadly, I feel like they’re overcharging for this convenience. I wish this App were 99¢ because then I could recommend it, but it’s not worth the $2.99 it’s charging, in my opinion. While it’s not terrible, it does need some work for picky individuals who are familiar with photo manipulation. Most people however, will have a hoot, and will be happy with the pages and pages of preset filters this App has.

limera1n icon LimeRa1n Not Working? Try ThisLimeRa1n not working? There are a couple things you might have missed that could explain why LimeRa1n is not working for you.

First, LimeRa1n is for Windows only, at least for the time being. Obviously, if you’re trying to get LimeRa1n to work on a Mac, it’s not going to work.

LimeRa1n also requires the latest version of iTunes to function properly. If LimeRa1n isn’t working, make sure your version of iTunes is up to date.

For LimeRa1n to work, you have to run it as an administrator on your computer. You can just do that by right clicking on LimeRa1n and choosing “run as administrator” from the menu.

Another issue you might encounter with LimeRa1n is the following. You ran LimeRa1n without any problem, but when you think you’re done, you don’t see any LimeRa1n icon on your iPhone screen. If that’s the case, try rebooting your iPhone. Alternatively, you may want to hard reset it by holding the Home and Power button together until your iPhone shuts down.

Getting error 3014? Try this.

Finally, many people report getting their iPhone stuck on the Apple logo when using LimeRa1n. If that happens to you, check out our previous post on how to get your iPhone out of reboot loop.

You might have encountered other issues and maybe you even have a solution for them. Please take the time to share your problems and fixes in the comments section below.

In the meanwhile, here are a couple links that might help you:

dellstreak1 Android 2.2 Froyo Beta Leaked for Dell Streak

Android has seen itself get installed on a whole slew of devices but there’s just one problem. Google engineer’s work so fast that their Android releases outpace smartphone releases. This means taht by the time a device gets pushed out, there is usually already a newer version of Android on the market. This can be made evident with Android 2.2 (Froyo), the latest version, which has only been installed on a handful of devices thus far.

One such device is the 5-inch touchscreen touting Dell Streak. While this device features specs that many would consider high end, it ships with Android 1.6. Luckily, it was just made known that a beta version of the Streak’s Android 2.2 update was released today. However, seeing how it’s not official, your’e going to have to proceed at your own risk.

If you try this out, let us know how it goes.

DataJack 3G modem Get 3G High Speed Internet Access with DataJackFor those who want the Internet on their laptop all the time might want to get Datajack.

The DataJack is a booth I saw at CTIA Fall 2010, and it looks like a USB thumb drive. All you need to do is plug it in, and it can work on any PC or MAC computer to store music, videos, and backup files with an integrated MicroSD slot for up to 32GB.

The DataJack USB modem costs about $99.99, with nationwide internet access for $49.99 per month.

bbc2 iph en 480x320 screenshot01 r11 300x200 Huge EA Fall LineupBattlefield: Bad Company 2 – Based on the best selling console game of the same title, Bad Company 2 is a squad-based first-person shooter with 14 single player missions and 5 distinct battle zones (i.e. jungle heat, winter snow, desert dust). Like the console version, the app also includes room to room, ground-based combat and vehicle combat, giving you the controls of tanks and helicopters. The real treat though, if done right, could be the multiplayer mode. If it’s even as close to as good as the console version we’re all in for a treat. Look for Bad Company 2 to hit the App Store sometime in November. If the app plays as good as it looks, I’ll be expecting it to be a top 25 mainstay.

Heroes Lore: Stigmata of Gaia – Heroes Lore is little known in the west, but in Korea it’s about as big as it gets. Heroes Lore is a mobile RPG that offers an over 30 hour single player experience as well as an astoundingly successful 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2 multiplayer arena. At one point, the original was seeing upwards of a million and a half online battles a day. Insane.

High Caliber Hunting – Not quite as anticipated as Battlefield or Heroes Lore, High Caliber Hunting is EA’s hyper-realistic foray into hunting. With “20 types of wild game, including Bear, Moose, Boar, and smaller critters like Squirrel, Fox, Rabbit” and 70 real brand-name firearms, High Caliber Hunting looks to be the pinnacle of mobile hunting. Look for High Caliber Hunting to launch sometime in November.

img 0325 300x200 Huge EA Fall LineupEA Sports MMA – It seems that everyone is watching MMA these days (except for me, something about arm bars makes me cringe), so EA is enthusiastically bringing their authentic MMA game to the iOS. The game features multiple fighting styles and over 20 real life fighters, enough to please any mobile warrior. Expect MMA to launch later this month.

EA Sports NBA Elite 11 – Instead of continuing with the NBA Live brand, EA is re-branding their hit series NBA Elite 11. As you’d expect, the game has all 30 NBA teams with over 450 players and unlockable legends. The iOS version even has a 3 point mode which will certainly drain hours of my time. The launch has been often delayed up to now because of the console launch of the new NBA JAM, but it should come out later this month.

On another note, hopefully NBA JAM will come to the iPhone too. Boomshakalaka!

SimCity Deluxe (iPad) – As expected, EA is bringing their ever so popular SimCity Deluxe game to the big screen. The HUD has been fully redesigned for the iPad, has many customizable features, and even simultaneous disaster strikes. Earthquakes and alien strikes await us all sometime in November.

Be sure to check out the mass of screenshots after the jump. Enjoy!
