notability iPad 300x225 Take and Sync Notes with Notability for iPadNotability is an excellent note-taking tool for the iPad.

Notability nails the balance between apps that favor creating typed notes or hand-written ones. While it is primarily designed for using the iPad’s on-screen keyboard, there is a very-easy-to-use way with Notability to merge drawings, illustrations, or other graphics.

The interface is well designed for solid maneuverability and, like many iPad/iPhone apps, has a design that harkens back to Notability’s pre-digital counterpart, a notebook. In landscape mode notes can easily be selected through the familiar side-anchored menu.

If you want to record while taking notes, just tap the red button for including voice. In all a note could include text, audio, and an image for a very dynamic alternative to the usual text-based messaging applications.

table topics 200x300 Table Topics App Keeps the Conversation Flowing Wherever You GoIf you need a little help getting conversation started during your next dinner party, date night or even lunch with co-workers, then Table Topics mobile may be the answer. Based on the physical Table Topics “cube,” a collection of conversation starter cards, this app lets you take two sets of 60 questions to prompt conversation with you wherever you go.

Table Topics comes with a starter set and the Happy Hour set for a total of 120 unique questions. Most of the questions are geared towards anybody, but a few are more age-appropriate for adults. None are particularly provocative, so you don’t have to worry about your audience. In fact, most are just really good prompts to keep conversation flowing. Examples are “What do you wish you were better at saying no to?” and “Which mystery or unsolved case would you like to know the truth about?”. If you do happen upon a question you don’t want asked, just move it the “hidden questions” tab and it won’t come up again.

doodleboy e1296625050485 300x200 DoodleBoy – The Violence Park: Battle Legions of Clowns and Zombies

The name this game—DoodleBoy – The Violence Park—really tells you everything you need to know. This game is really, really violent. The name also tells you that this game belongs in the ever-growing list of doodle-themed games for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Other doodle games include Doodle Army and the immensely popular Doodle Jump. Though all of these games are by different developers, they share a common aesthetic—they all look like they were hastily scribbled on a sheet of graph paper.

DoodleBoy – The Violence Park doesn’t really stick to that premise, however. Once you’re in full-blown game play, the blood-soaked look more closely resembles a gory cult flash cartoon than the innocent sketches of a bored schoolchild. The look of it even occasionally has a taste of South Park. The object of the game is to control the DoodleBoy as he shoots and stabs his way through The Violence Park, a theme park (or maybe mountain range? haunted neighborhood?) that is filled with clowns with knives, grim reapers with scythes, and zombies that for some reason also have knives.

Antenna News New Verizon iPhone Has Antenna Issues Too

Just when you thought we were done with the antennagate, a new video from iLounge surfaced, showing that the Verizon iPhone is also affected by an antenna issue. When held in the prior “death grip” position, the Verizon iPhone loses substantial cellular signal, just like we previously saw with GSM iPhone 4.

Additionally, the CDMA iPhone 4 seems to be affected by a loss of wifi signal when held snugly in landscape mode. Both issues seem to be taken care of with the use of a case… (…)

Gameloft has finally released a gameplay trailer for their highly anticipated real time strategy title, Starfront: Collision. They also announced that the title will be available for purchase via the App Store on February 10th. This is great news because Gameloft has been pretty hush-hush with the title since its initial announcement. I was beginning to worry that we might not see the title for months. Thankfully that isn’t the case, and all of the die hard strategy fans can now sleep better at night knowing this title will soon be theirs to command.

Welcome to planet Sinistral, where rare Xenodium crystals are coveted by a human mining conglomerate called the Consortium. However, they are not the only ones after the rare mineral. The Myriad, an indigenous race of aliens, is addicted to Xenodium and will do everything they can to prevent the Consortium from plundering their resources. To add to the chaos, a sentient robot race called the Wardens is trying to turn the war in their favor. Whose side will you choose?

This Starcraft “inspired” app features three factions struggling to obtain a rare resource on the planet Sinistral. The Consortium (aka humans) are mining Sinistral for precious Xenodium crystals, but the native Myriads (aka aliens) aren’t keen on giving them up. To add to the chaos there is another race known as the Wardens (aka psychotic robots) who are bent on destroying everyone. The game will have multiplayer in the form of “massive” 4-player local and online battles. The trailer shows off some very nice graphics, and the framerate seems smooth even during intense action scenes. The trailer also showcases a short segment of actual hands-on gameplay, and from what I can tell, the interface looks fairly intuitive. Hopefully, Gameloft has nailed the interface because a lot of fans have been waiting for a definitive iOS real time strategy game.

It is sad that the game only supports 3rd and 4th generation devices, but I’m sure it was hard enough for the development team to squeeze out an acceptable level of performance during heavy combat on current devices. With only three more days until the official release, we won’t have to wait long to find out if Starfront: Collision lives up to all the hype.
