galaxy tab gingerbread cyanogen How to get Gingerbread (Android 2.3) on the Samsung Galaxy TabI realize that a lot of the hype these days about Android is about Honeycomb (Version 3.0), but this particular one is about Gingerbread, who I almost forgot about due to Honeybcomb.

There was a recent posting about Android 2.3 caught running on the Droid X, so I suppose that the next big Samsung device to run Gingerbread would be the Galaxy Tab.

This isn’t an official update, but some developers, including those from Cyanogen, have made it, and here is what my Source has to say about it:

…the latest port of CyanogenMod 7 (done by Technomancer) for the Samsung Galaxy Tab is worth a few minutes as it brings Gingerbread to the tablet. Of course, the warning here is that as of now there are something features that may still not be working. In other words, the port is still early in development. That said, it was noted that voice calls (yes, voice calling on the Galaxy Tab—but please use a Bluetooth headset if you must) along with Wi-Fi and 3G data as well as GPS are working. Needless to say, this one may not be ready for everyone as of now, but it is something worth keeping an eye on if you are using a Galaxy Tab and hoping for Gingerbread.
