I’ve talked many times before about app genres that work well on the iPhone, but never have I mentioned the face transforming apps as one of them. Given the iPhone’s snappy camera and wonderful touch screen, it seems only natural that these apps would be a developer’s dream.
There seem to be a thousand Halloween face changing apps out in the App Store right now, but there is no better one than iMut8r from Legacy Effects. Legacy Effects takes its strong reputation in Hollywood, creating digital scultptures for Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, and Iron Man 2 into the app world with the Halloween face app to end Halloween face apps. Instead of just letting you piddle around with a few silly options, iMut8r gives you seven character types (zombies, vampires, werewolves, witches, Frankenthings, demons, and ghouls), all of which have tons of options for each facial feature.
For example, on a simple feature like skin, most apps would just have some color change options and maybe a bandage or two. iMut8r gives you all sorts of color hues, sores that can cover different spots, hideous veins, and a pretty nice assortment of blood smears.
To make things look a bit more realistic, iMut8r also has a fade feature that lets you blend in some photo effects that wouldn’t otherwise look right. It doesn’t sound like much, but when putting a nasty sore on your face it’s pretty critical to get the effect to blend in with the skin.
If you are in the need for a spooky photo manipulator, look no further than iMut8r. It has more options and more hideous looking effects than any other app of its kind. For a dollar, there really isn’t a better investment that you can make this Halloween.

Popular Hollywood blogger Nikki Finke has filed a lawsuit against BoxOfficeWorld.com. Apparently BoxOfficeWorld.com lifts articles from Finke’s Deadline.com verbatim. Deadline.com is owned by Mail.com Media Corp.
Mail.com filed a copyright infringement lawsuit at the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles against Arthur Meyerovich and Alina Kaganovsky, the owners of BoxOfficeWorld.com.
“Defendants have copied countless original and copyrighted articles from Deadline and posted these articles verbatim on Box Office World,” stated the complaint filed by Finke. “By stealing Deadline’s content, defendants have generated Internet traffic, earned advertising revenue, and sold products that they otherwise would not have but for their theft of Deadline’s content.”
The complaint listed 21 examples of Deadline.com stories that were stolen including “Lucas Converting ‘Star Wars Saga’ to 3D” and “It’s Official: Fox Cancels ‘Lone Star.’”
This isn’t the first company Finke has taken to court. Fink sued Etrade for a recording and Women’s Wear Daily for lifting content. Finke was also in a legal conflict with HBO because they are developed a comedy called Tilda. Tilda is about a female Hollywood blogger that is similar to Finke.

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, a reality TV star with few legitimate talents, has to take every opportunity he can to monetize his fifteen minutes of fame — so it’s no surprise that he’s got an app of his own. What is surprising, however, is that anyone would pay $5 for what is essentially a way to shoot him Facebook messages, a GTL finder (think Urban Spoon for laundromats and gyms), and a game called Grenade Dodger that’s basically Kaboom! with a Jersey Shore face lift. But pay for it, people have: According to The Hollywood Reporter, since its release last Thursday this bad boy has moved into the Top 10 Entertainment Apps in the App Store — which is odd, because when we checked (image after the break) it was ranked 19, behind such titles as Hot Booth and iGun Pro. Regardless, you could take this info one of two ways: you could shed a tear for humanity (we definitely wouldn’t blame you), or you can double down and finish production of your app for Oxygen’s Bad Girls Club.

Last time I was in LA, I didn’t get a chance to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fortunately, there’s an App…you know the rest.
The Walk of Fame App is a resource and information about all of the 2,400 stars on that Walk of fame. It will give you information on ethnicity, place of birth, month of birth, and will also tell you new star inductions.
You should be able to get it for about $1.99, for more Hollywood people, you can get the imdb App.
