The Dev Team has released their Redsn0w beta, dubbed Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 for iOS 4.2. We wanted to alert our readers, and at the same time provide a word of caution about the beta release.
To quote the Dev Team “This is a beta tester program. It’s not a general release! Things can go very wrong, so please don’t even consider testing if you have pictures or other media on your device that you haven’t backed up!”
For that reason we recommend you hold off until the official release, especially if you rely on an ultrasn0w carrier unlock…

If you load up Cydia today you will notice that it is now showing your SHSH blob for iOS 4.2.1. It’s probably due to the recent release of RedSn0w 0.9.6b7, the long-awaited but complicated untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1.
If you don’t see your 4.2.1 blobs in Cydia, maybe you should use TinyUmbrella and make sure you’re 100% ready for any eventuality.

The Dev Team released RedSn0w 0.9.7b1 this morning, an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G on iOS 4.2.1. When we first reported about this updated version of RedSn0w, we advised you not to use because it is still in beta, and most importantly, comes with a few issues worth mentioning.
We still think that you should hold off and be patient. A more stable version should be released soon. In the meanwhile, if you are curious about what problems you might encounter after “untethering” your iPhone, here are some of the issues that have been reported: Read More

We have covered the Ballistic HC (Hard Core) case for the iPhone 4 before, and the company is making some tougher iPhone 4 cases with the Ballistic LS.
The LS is made of a TPU material that is very durable, and it has interchangeable corner bumpers. That is a unique feature, and these have unique thickness options for customization of shock absorption preferences.
According to my Source, the LS looks like it is available for just the iPhone 4, but I would like to see it made for other models. No word on that one, though.
In the meantime, I have heard that the Ballistic LS will have some presence at CES 2011. From what I have heard, it won’t be on the showfloor, but rather at the Wynn Hotel. I would imagine it would be out shortly after that, but there is no word on the price.
