Google’s Android has become on of the most widely used smartphone operating systems but hardware manufacturers are looking to make it so much more. While Android powered netbooks have failed to catch on, tablets powered by the mobile operating system have been doing quite well for themselves. One such devices is the Samsung Galaxy Tab which features Android 2.2, a 7-inch screen, 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and front/rear facing cameras. Currently, the Galaxy Tab is pretty much the only big name Android tablet on the market with competition looking fierce going into 2011.
However, it seems that Samsung has come up with quite the deal for those in the UK going on to offer £200 worth of downloadable content with the purchase of every Galaxy Tab. This Media Hub credit can go towards 15 movies, 5 eBooks, 7 GameLoft games and 50 music downloads. This is definitely a noteworthy offer as not only will it get people to buy Samsung’s Android tablet, but it will also keep them using it.
Anyone in the UK looking to get down on this deal?

One of the biggest gripes consumers have with the Android platform is the fact that it’s so difficult to stay up to date. Of course, this isn’t the fault of the consumers but instead the actual hardware manufacturers who have continuously delayed the latest builds of Android. One infamous case of this is the Galaxy S which, here in the United States, has yet to receive the latest update, Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2.
This is quickly becoming a problem especially since Android ‘Gingerbread‘ 2.3 is already making its market. Luckily, those of you with a Galaxy S from either Virgin Mobile or SaskTel will be happy to hear that they are now pushing out the update. News comes to us from Samsung’s Canadian Twitter account that says both Virgin Mobile and SaskTel will join Bell as official providers of the Froyo update.
This is great news for our neighbors to the north but what about us here in the United States? It’s pretty ridiculous that a device as popular as the Galaxy S has yet to receive the update. What gives?

Samsung’s Galaxy S line up of Android devices has been on the market for quite some time garnering positive interest. Making an appearance on major carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, the Samsung Galaxy S is available to just about everyone which great contributes to its sucess.
Unfortunately, when any product gets popular no matter what manufacturer it is from, bootleg devices are sure to pop up sooner or later. It seems that the Samsung Galaxy S is no different as an imitation device has appeared and strikes an uncanny resemblance to the real thing as you can see from the above picture.
Seeing how this is blatant copyright infringement, we probably won’t be seeing this device his the United States anytime soon but what is interesting is the fact that the makers of this device promise an Android 2.2 update soon. Will the fake Galaxy S beat the authentic Galaxy S in the race towards Froyo? Only time will tell.
