One of the biggest gripes consumers have with the Android platform is the fact that it’s so difficult to stay up to date. Of course, this isn’t the fault of the consumers but instead the actual hardware manufacturers who have continuously delayed the latest builds of Android. One infamous case of this is the Galaxy S which, here in the United States, has yet to receive the latest update, Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2.
This is quickly becoming a problem especially since Android ‘Gingerbread‘ 2.3 is already making its market. Luckily, those of you with a Galaxy S from either Virgin Mobile or SaskTel will be happy to hear that they are now pushing out the update. News comes to us from Samsung’s Canadian Twitter account that says both Virgin Mobile and SaskTel will join Bell as official providers of the Froyo update.
This is great news for our neighbors to the north but what about us here in the United States? It’s pretty ridiculous that a device as popular as the Galaxy S has yet to receive the update. What gives?

If you’ve been with us for a while you’ll already know that Samsung is one of the most popular Android manufacturers in the game. Much of this success can be attributed to their Galaxy S line up of phones that has found its way onto every major carrier here in the United States. However, while Samsung is quite popular, there is no way it could beat the pioneering Android manufacturer HTC, right?
Wrong, sales numbers are in today that say Samsung is officially the top selling Android manufacturer for Q3 2010. To put this into perspective, they have been able to secure a massive 32.1% of US Android sales in this quarter.
Currently, some Galaxy S devices have yet to be upgraded to Android 2.2 but once they are these sales numbers are sure to skyrocket even further.

Tablets, tablets everywhere, but what one will you choose? If you’re an Apple fanboy you’re probably already set on the iPad but if you’re more into Android perhaps you’re looking to broaden your horizons. Unfortunately, for now there aren’t many Android powered tablets on the market but luckily one of the most capable has just dropped.
Which tablet am I talking about, you ask? Well, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, of course. This 7-inch Android 2.2 powered tablet features a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and front/rear facing cameras. Unfortunately if you’re looking to get your hands on the Galaxy Tab you may have a hard time as not every carry has picked it up just yet.
Luckily, if you’re in Canada you’ll be happy to know that Rogers now has the Samsung Galaxy Tab for sale at $674.99 with no contract. However, if you’d rather sign yourself into some more monthly bills you can grab the Galaxy Tab for $539.99 with a 3-year contract. This choice is yours.

In the Android world there have been several different phones that have seen success over the years. However, arguably the most successful device out of the whole Android line up is the Galaxy S from Samsung.
While the phone is great itself, many have attributed its success to the fact that it has appeared on just about every major carrier here in the United States in one form or another. As a refresher, it his Sprint as the Epic 4G, Verizon as the Fascinate, T-Mobile as the Vibrant and AT&T as the Captivate. While all of these devices feature different names they are quite similar hold for a few select features.
Despite coming to all of these carriers, it seems that Samsung isn’t finished yet as it was just made known today the Samsung Galaxy S is now available on Cellular South for $199.95 with a 2-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate.
Unfortunately, if you’re looking for some killer new features this Galaxy S isn’t for you as it’s literally the exact same thing as the Samsung Vibrant for T-Mobile. Perhaps we’ll have to wait until Samsung announces the infamous Nexus S before we see any new hard hitting features.
