Software developers have been able to come up with some pretty amazing games for today’s modern mobile platforms. Apple’s iOS, in particular, has seen the launch of several hard hitting titles netting their respective developers a small fortune.
One such title that is immensely popular and available for both iOS and the Nokia N900 is Rovio’s Angry Birds. This game tasks a player with slingshotting several different types of birds at legions of pigs in an attempt to claim back what’s rightfully theirs; their eggs. It may sound stupid, but trust me, it’s an amazingly addictive game that everyone who’s anyone should check out.
Anyways, just last week Angry Birds made the jump to webOS meaning it was available on 3 major platforms. However, Google’s Android mobile OS has yet to see the entry of Angry Birds into the Marketplace. Luckily, that will all soon change as Rovio has announced that they will be launching the public beta version of Angry Birds for the Android platform this Friday.
Rovio’s official statement below:
This week, we were planning to run a closed beta test of Angry Birds Lite for Android. Due to the massive response and demand from the Android community, we have decided to make AngryBirds Lite Beta available for everybody through the Android Market this Friday.
Please note that this will be the beta version of the application which is still undergoing final testing before official release. Angry Birds Lite Beta is presented on an “as is” basis, and we cannot guarantee its functionality on every Android device.
Seeing how they say they cannot guarantee its functionality on every Android device, it would probably be better to stick to only more modern devices when checking out the Angry Birds beta this Friday.
