And to finish out the week, we take a look at the Samsung Contour, one of the newer models available out at MetroPCS. It, like many cell phones we come across, will feature a lot of high points, but won’t be without its faults. The question is, as usual, how they balance out, and that’s what we’ll be looking at today.
The Samsung Contour is a flip phone that offers up conference call capability, speakerphone, Bluetooth connectivity, voice command capability, mobile web, mobile email, text, instant and picture messaging capability, a phone book with sufficient space for a thousand contacts, stopwatch, calculator, MetroNavigator and some other MetroPCS specific apps, a VGA camera, alarm clock, and a battery that offers three hours and eighteen minutes of talk time on a single charge.
So as you can see, not very good on features. Sure, it’s got the basics, but not much more than that. And the battery life is weak to say the least–five to six is about standard from what I’ve seen, and not even making three is a terrible move.
However, there are pluses here: there may not be a lot to this phone, but it’s pretty easy to get around in. The phone feels well put together and the controls are easy to work with. You can even just tell the phone what you want it to do, and it will do it. Eventually. It’s kind of slow, but it does work and work pretty well.
The Samsung Contour may not be everything you were hoping for, but it will do a decent job with the tools it has to work with.
The Good
Easy controls
Nice construction
The Bad
