In China? No VoIP for you!

Apparently, the State Ministry of Industry in China has “outlawed” (note use of quotation marks), and suggests (note no quotation marks) people use Chinese telecom.
Apparently, 30 million current users are involved with “illegal VoIP operators”, and if you see one of these in China, you should report it.
According to my Source, this appears to be a power play by China Telecom to maintain its user base rather than any legality involved.
So, for those Chinese iPhone users who have the new Skype App, watch out. Does that App use VoIP? I forget. I guess I just think Skype and think “VoIP”.
