Smartphones of this day and age are extremely popular with various models causing more hype than we could have ever predicted. When a hard hitting smartphone drops and posts huge sales it can revive a company nearing death – as did the Motorola Droid for Motorola. On the other side of things, when a smartphone release flops it could spell doom for a company as we saw with the GarminASUS partnership.
However, if you were one of the few who purchased a GarminASUS manufactured Garminfone for T-Mobile, you will be happy to hear that the device has just gotten an Android ‘Eclair’ 2.1 update. Of course, it’s not Froyo but you can’t really complain seeing how the device’s manufacturer technically no longer exists.
Unfortunately, if you’re looking to grab this update there is currently no over-the-air method so you’re going to have to do utilize the old fashioned USB tethered option by heading here.

While Garmin has plenty of normal GPS systems they also make special ones such as the Garmin Approach S1 which is a GPS Watch. The Approach S1 was made for golfers and is able to provide the exact distance (front, back, and middle) of the green. It comes with 14,000 courses in the system and [...]

The smartphone market is an incredibly cut throat one with hardware manufacturers far and wide getting down on the fun for profit and for glory. However, while some hardware manufacturers like Apple, HTC and Samsung are reaping the benefits, others aren’t doing so hot. If you’ve been reading MobileWhack for a while you’ve probably heard of some GPS focused smartphones from Garmin ASUS. Now, if you couldn’t tell Garmin ASUS isn’t exactly a single entitiy but instead two companies banding together for a common cause. Unfortunately for the fans of these devices (if there are even any out there) it seems everything is about to come to a halt.
According to rumors, an ASUS exec has went on record as saying the ASUS/Garmin smartphone partnership is no more. This can most likely be attributed to the fact that most of the devices that came from this partnership weren’t exactly critically recieved or sought after. This isn’t really a surprise considering many popular smartphones are gaining third party applications that give them GPS functionalities just as good as any standalone GPS unit.
We’ll have to wait and see how this one unfolds.

Even though I have never been geocaching, it is something that I would like to try. For this reason, Garmin has created the chirp.
The chirp can sync with a Garmin GPS device, and it can “transmit geocaching data to your Garmin handheld device for things like coordinates, the times a cache has been found before, hints, etc.”. The chirp is very small, only “slightly larger than a quarter” according to the company.
You should be able to get the chirp now for $22.99.

Just when we got finished talking about how the new Amazon Kindle’s screen has better glare protection than iPad.
Fortunately, if you want that glare protection, you can always get the ScreenGuardz HD Anti-Glare from NLU products. Not only will this protect against the sun at parks, beaches, and anywhere where the sun shines, but the screen protector protects against nicks and scratches.
You should be able to get it at my Source for about $19.95.
