RecipePad – The iPad continues to become a chef’s companion with an increasing number of apps dedicated to the culinary arts. Among the latest is RecipePad, which is usable for creating and saving recipes.
You get the most out of RecipePad if you have a Mac and use MacGourmet or Yummy Soup. If so those files can be moved from your desktop to the iPad through iTunes. In many ways it is a pain to have to physically connect the device to a computer just to get files transferred. On the other hand, long-time users of MacGourmet and Yummy Soup will rejoice that they now have the ability to move their recipe collection to the iPad.
The interface of RecipePad is very easy to follow and is an excellent way to view the details of a recipe. (…)

The iLIVEx app for iPad and connected suite of solutions is a good, low-cost way to network a small business or organization.
StarNet Communications has come up with a straightforward method for those who want to use an iPad to stay connected to a remote desktop. Use the iLIVEx app to connect to and display a Linux desktop or to work on an individual X11 application.
In comparison to most of the App Store, iLIVEx is at the BMW price level: the two versions are $14.99 and $24.99. For personal use these are the only costs you would incur as each copy of iLIVEx includes a free account on a StarNet Linux server to host applications such as FireFox and OpenOffice. However, there are additional costs associated with the company’s other products. (…)

It’s hard to categorize CosmicPainter, unless you’re familiar with the world of VJing. That’s a special place where it’s deemed important to be able to create patterned artwork in motion, because sometimes you just need peoples’ eyeballs glued to a screen displaying no representative visual content.
Just as music can simply be sound with no meaning, images can just be images. Keep those images in one spot, and you’ve got abstract art. Set them in motion, and you’ve got Cosmic Painter. This app may be what Timothy Leary was raving on about when he said computer graphics would be the next LSD.
CosmicPainter supplies motion to the canvas as you “paint” using a variety of tools, creating real-time (and very cool) animations. With a comparatively simple palette of painting tools, you create patterns against the moving background, producing ever-changing eye-candy effortlessly and intuitively. It’s painting for someone who doesn’t want to paint anything in particular. You’re just choosing whatever aesthetic effect you think will please your eye at the moment.
In a word, CosmicPainter is Art with a capital “A”: inherently meaningless, useless, and endlessly pleasing. (…)

Fastlane HD is like a scaled down version of The Sims. While it has some good moments overall it lacks the excitement or innovation found in similar lifestyle games.
In Fastlane HD you travel through your town to try and build happiness for your life (as if doing this for real isn’t hard enough). This involves getting and showing up to a job, hitting the grocery store, dressing appropriately and heading back to your pad for some sleep. The more you regularly undertake these necessary life functions the greater your chance of advancing in your job, getting more education and improving your overall happiness.
If you slack off on any of these details your overall success will suffer. For example if you neglect to eat you may lose time to recover. Pass on sleeping and prepare to be sent to the doctor for treatment (and of course pay a nice little bill). Ditch out of work and you won’t be able to make any money; which means not paying rent or buying food.(…)
