The iLIVEx app for iPad and connected suite of solutions is a good, low-cost way to network a small business or organization.
StarNet Communications has come up with a straightforward method for those who want to use an iPad to stay connected to a remote desktop. Use the iLIVEx app to connect to and display a Linux desktop or to work on an individual X11 application.
In comparison to most of the App Store, iLIVEx is at the BMW price level: the two versions are $14.99 and $24.99. For personal use these are the only costs you would incur as each copy of iLIVEx includes a free account on a StarNet Linux server to host applications such as FireFox and OpenOffice. However, there are additional costs associated with the company’s other products. (…)

VLC media player was just updated as a universal app for iPhone and iPad in the App Store. The popular, open source, cross platform media player has been a favorite on Windows, OS X and Linux for years.
Awhile back, VLC released an iPad app in the App Store, and surprisingly the app was approved. VLC for iPhone allows you to play nearly every kind of video format known to man. The app clearly duplicates (and in my opinion, makes better) the video playback functionality of the the native iPod app. So, it’s interesting that Apple has finally approved it.
The developers of the VideoLAN player just got the VLC 1.1.0 update approved, which lets VLC run on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and recent iPod touch models. I downloaded the app, and I was impressed.

There is a lot of talk about cloud computing, and accessing files that would normally be stored on a desktop or laptop with a mobile device. If you don’t have a Pogoplug, may I suggest Air Sharing.
Air Sharing is an app that allows you the user to mount an iPhone or iPod Touch as a Wi-Fi drive on your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux) or connect from your computer’s web browser. You can then drag and drop files between and iPhone, or iPod touch and your computer. It also allows for viewing email documents in many common formats and sending email attachments.
You should be able to get it for the iDevice platform for $2.99.

After being released for Windows and Linux, GreenPois0n for Mac is now available for download. You can download GreenPois0n for Mac from the official website here.
Whether you’re using the GreenPois0n jailbreak on a PC, Mac or Linux, the steps are exactly the same. Check out our GreenPois0n guide for more information.
It’s also worth noting that the Dev Team is supposed to release PwnageTool tomorrow. PwnageTool is a Mac only jailbreak that allows you to update to a jailbroken firmware while preserving your baseband, which is key to unlocking your iPhone.
