Android – Iphone – Applications

This is definitely going to make uncle Steve angry. TUAW reports that China Unicom is offering to jailbreak their customers iPhones directly from the very store they sell the devices from.

Apparently the staff will gladly hack the apparent iPhone 3GS devices (the iPhone 4 hasn’t been released yet), or cut the SIM card down to fit the micro size on those who have opted to buy an iPhone 4 through alternative outlets. Some stores are even going as far as saying that they will show users how to download 3rd party applications. Wow.  Read More

Mexican mobile provider, Telcel, announces that the iPhone 4 is now available for purchase for our (US) neighbors of the South. Apple stores and Sansborns shops are the retailers that will carry the device.

This is the Mooncharge Hybrid Solar Battery Case for the iPhone 4 from Frostfire. It is similar to the Thanko Hybrid Mobile Phone Charger and the Solar Arcadia cases.

This is a solar-powered charger for the iPhone, specifically for the iPhone 4, in fact. It also can charge USB, if the sun isn’t handy.

So, if you are low on power, you can plug this thing in and get five hours of extra talk time, 10 hours of video playback, as well 27 hours worth of music.

For those who want that little bit of extra charge, you should be able to get it for about $70.

Those of you who purchased an iPhone 4 and are using it on an unofficial carrier were not able to activate FaceTime. There is now a fix for this. It’s called MiTime and from what I read, it’s working well.

MiTime is an app/service for activating FaceTime on phones that are operating on unofficial carriers. It should work worldwide and will use two text messages to activate. You must be able to receive an international SMS message to get activated (see here if you can receive international SMS). Read More
