BlackBerry loyalists everywhere are anxiously awaiting the launch of BlackBerry OS 6 – Research in Motion’s latest attempt mobile operating system. Today, during a Research in Motion/AT&T press conference, the two companies came forth to heavily market the new operating system for all to see showing of its brand new WebKit enabled web browser and countless other improvements that will have BlackBerry fan boys drooling at the mouth.
However, it seems that all BlackBerry models won’t be getting the love with two devices sticking out like a sore thumb – the Storm and Storm 2. That’s right, Research in Motion has just announced that their two full touchscreen enabled device, the Storm and Storm 2, will not be getting any BlackBerry OS 6 love.
Research in Motion did not state a reason for the devices not getting the new OS other than the following statement:
Subject to carrier certifications in the months ahead, the new OS is expected to be available for the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700, BlackBerry® Bold™ 9650 and BlackBerry® Pearl™ 3G, as well as future BlackBerry smartphones.
Bummer.
