And now, to close a week of reviews, we take a look at another phone from HTC, a mostly terrific little model from HTC, the HTC Mozart.
The HTC Mozart is a PDA-style smartphone running Windows Phone 7 that offers Bluetooth and wi-fi connectivity, a GPS, touch screen controls, a USB port, a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, a digital compass, internet browser, support for email and text messaging, a variety of downloadable content items including games and music, an eight megapixel camera (that itself comes with autofocus, a Xenon flash and can record in 720p video), a 3.5mm headphone jack, SRS WOW HD enhancement for the audio, and a battery that yields up to six hours and forty five minutes of talk time on a single charge.
When you name a phone “Mozart”, you can pretty much tell what they mean to make it specialize in, and this is a perfect example of truth in advertising. It’s heavy on the music, and it’s no small surprise that the sound quality on this thing is pretty nice. I’ve heard SRS do amazing things with television audio that were downright unaccountable, but seeing SRS also perk up phone audio is quite the happy development.
Though I have to say, for an eight megapixel camera, the pictures this thing takes are hardly worthy of an eight megapixel camera. They looked almost fuzzy when I saw them, and that’s definitely not a mark in this thing’s favor.
Still though, if you’re a big music buff looking for a new phone, you’ll want to have a listen to the HTC Mozart, because it should come through very nicely where you’ll want it to the most.
The Good
Great sound
Lots of nice options
The Bad
Lower end camera
Only slightly better than average battery
Score 7 / 10
