The smartphone marketplace is undoubtedly one of the most saturated. It seems that just about every day some hardware manufacturer comes forth with a new offering for the world to feast their eyes on – whether we like it or not. However, one hardware manufacturer that has remained absent from the smartphone game is Panasonic.
Panasonic is one of the world’s leading electronics manufacturers with products in just about every niche. But, they won’t stop there as it seems that the company will be expanding into the Android smartphone market sometime next year. However, according to recent reports Panasonic will not be taking their Android smartphone venture global just yet – instead focusing on just Japan in the beginning.
Panasonic exec Osamu Waki had this to say of the matter:
“We misjudged the speed at which smartphones would be taken up in the Japanese market, with the rapid shift to Android, we want to catch up quickly.”
What do you guys think? Does Panasonic have a chance in this saturated market or will they quickly get eaten up by competitors? Let us know in the comments below.

I love apps that make my life easier. And when they’re really useful, I don’t mind paying a little for them. The 5 apps I will mention in this list are not jailbreak apps, so everyone can use them.
Each of these apps is either designed to increase your productivity or make some aspect of your technology life better. They all aren’t necessarily cheap, but there are free/lite versions of some. These 5 apps are utilities I use on a daily basis, so they’re near and dear to my heart…

Japanese media artist Jitsuro Mase might be the first person to bring 3D to the iPhone. His invention, i3DG, is a groundbreking device that lets you watch movies in 3 dimensions, without the need of those dorky glasses.
Both production and playback of the video don’t require special technology or equipment, which means that you can watch any movie in 3D. So how does this work? Read More

Maybe this really is a day we’ll never forget after all! Even though the Google Voice web app was pretty good, I always wondered why Google didn’t release an official app, especially since Apple loosened up its App Store approval process. It’s something I will never wonder again as Apple gave the green light today to the official Google Voice app.
There are already a couple Google Voice apps (1, 2) selling in the App Store, but seeing how good the new official app looks like, and the fact that it comes at the unbeatable price of $0, the official Google Voice application will probably be a success… Read More

Symple Notes really does live up to its name. It’s ridiculously simple but it’s also something that you’ll find yourself using more often than the pre-installed Notes app. That is if a few of the minor bugs can be ironed out.
Symple Notes looks as basic as Notes on the surface. You can enter as many different notes as you want and they’re all easily viewable from the moment you load the app. One of the crucial differences however is that you can add photos if you wish, either by adding one already taken or by taking one at that moment. This does require setting up a CloudApp account but it only takes a few moments and is really rather useful as it allows you to access your content from anywhere.
Further enhancements come in the form of being able to share your note via Facebook, Twitter, Email or Tumblr. It would have been nice to have been able to add directly to LinkedIn but that’s not a big problem. The functionality of sharing content elsewhere is very useful considering I multi task a lot. Adding photos is also handy although I did find on a few occasions that the app would freeze or crash on me.
Symple Notes could do with being that bit more stable but other than that, it does exactly what it says on the virtual box. It’s a useful app for taking notes and sharing them simply. Whether it’s worth the asking price compared to using the pre-installed app, all depends on how much you need to be able to share your notes or add photos to them. Something only you can decide really.
