Research in Motion has long been a big player in the mobile world but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t faced stark competition. In fact, both Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS have been giving Research in Motion and their line up of BlackBerrys a run for their money for quite some time. While many say that [...]

Your favorite feathered friends who would love nothing than popping the cap on some green porkers have dominated the gaming landscape across iOS, Android, Symbian, and webOS platforms, leaving only the Blackberry and Windows Phone 7 operating systems as the remaining outcasts. We do know that BlackBerry owners are still very far away from an [...]

I’m sure that we are all getting pretty excited about the BlackBerry Playbook, as well as its accessories. A recent announcement at Mobile World Congress has revealed that RIM is doing two new Playbook models.

One of these is supporting 4G LTE, and the other is HSPA+ along with two EA Games. The first is Need for Speed Undercover, which doesn’t surprise me. I got NFS Shift on my Droid X with purchase. The other is the classic Tetris, a game that everybody need to play once in a while.

For those who need a refresher course on the specs of the Blackberry Playbook, it has a 7-inch display, 1GB of RAM, 1GHz dual-core TI processor, two cameras for photos and video conferencing, HDMI out, and Wi-Fi. However, the video shows one great highlight which is the ability for it to seamlessly multitask. You will notice its ability to play a 3D game, and HD video, and an old school game all at once.

It looks like this is destined to be a hit tablet just because of that. I look forward to seeing it for myself.

officedepotblackberryplaybook Office Depot Pegs WiFi Only BlackBerry PlayBook With $500 Price Tag

There are many different tablets set to hit the market in the coming months with devices like the iPad 2, Motorola XOOM and LG G-Slate leading the pack. However, the only way to get many of these devices without incurring a massive fee is to grab them with a data plan from a participating carrier. This, of course, means you’re going to have to sign your way into a 2-year contract but will be rewarded with a smaller price due at signing.

Luckily, for those who aren’t partial to wireless contracts and/or don’t need 3G internet, many tablets are offered in WiFi only models. While it’s been known that RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook to carriers like Sprint, we haven’t been able to come up with a price tag for a WiFi only version of the BlackBerry QNX powered device. Today, however, an internally leaked screenshot of Office Depot’s inventory system has notified us that the 16GB WiFi-only version of the BlackBerry PlayBook will be available for $499.99. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that the base 16GB WiFi-only iPad also retails for $499 so such a price tag for the PlayBook would be highly competitive.

The screen shot also tells us that the PlayBook will be made available on Week 17 which, by our calculations, falls towards the end of April.

We’ll keep you posted as more information is made known regarding this matter.

flickrlogo Flickr Getting Discontinued on BlackBerry Starting March 1

Thanks to readily available mobile broadband connections sharing videos and pictures have become quite easy. Available on the various mobile software stores are different applications that will allow you to upload your pictures and images to a whole slew of different websites including Flickr. However, it seems that Research in Motion isn’t partial to Flickr as they have announced that they will no longer support the BlackBerrty Flickr Uploader starting on March 1st.

Quite obviously, this app allows you to seamlessly upload images directly from your BlackBerry to Flickr. Why exactly RIM would be discontinuing this we aren’t sure but we’ll keep you posted. And for those of you worrying about not being able to upload images, there are sure to be replacements for the uploader in the BlackBerry App World.
