Today we’ve got a Motorola cell phone to check out, and while it’s nothing particular special, it’s also nothing to scoff at. It’s the Motorola Evoke, and the only thing it really “evokes” is the spirit of sheer blinding mediocrity.
The Motorola Evoke is a slider-style cell phone with conference call capability, speakerphone, Bluetooth connectivity, USB port with microSD card slot, mobile web, mobile email, a two megapixel camera with automatic focus and 5x digital zoom, alarm clock, calendar, basic calculator, MP3 player, access to a devoted server to back up your contacts remotely, a couple games, and a battery capable of yielding five and a half hours of talk time on a single charge.
The Motorola Evoke isn’t exactly a big deal phone, but this is one of those interesting cases where it may not be a big deal, but what’s there is actually pretty good. The controls are fairly easy to work–a bit of a learning curve but nothing too steep. There aren’t a lot of features but those that are there are solid and simple to deal with. It’s a phone that the word “decent” was made for.
So if you’re looking for a new phone, take a look at the Motorola Evoke, a phone that may not make any big splashes, but will do a fairly solid job with what it brings to the table.
