iSlice0 Take the Guesswork Out of Your Swing with iSliceGolf is one of those wonderfully frustrating sports that can take you from glee to tears – or elation to frustration – in a matter of a single stroke.  Though I am a crummy golfer at best, I have seen many a man become victim to the course and eventually their own psyche.  That is the beauty of the sport; many would say it is just as much mental as it is physical, because it is based on perfecting a set of motions and duplicating them consistently, time after time.  This is why I am such a mediocre golfer, my complete and total lack of consistency and a level of focus that rivals a chipmunk.

iSlice3 Take the Guesswork Out of Your Swing with iSliceSo what can you do to improve bad form or lack of training?  While some would sink immense amounts of time and absurd volumes of money on lessons with a golf pro, I don’t make enough money for that to seem even remotely feasible.  Fortunately, the new app iSlice will help you perfect your form either on and off the links, no down payment required.  The software is so effective that it has even landed a pseudo-celebrity endorsement!

“Duncan is one of the best young coaches in Australia, he has had great success teaching golfers of all abilities and now brings this expertise to the iPhone to help fix your slice. The most critical component for teaching success is for the student to be able to feel the correct moves, by practicing with your iPhone you will finally know what the Pros feel like” — Neil Simpson, Head Professional and Coach to US PGA Tour Player Nick O’Hern

Combining both the instructional videos included with the app and the tools that the software provides, you will be making a dramatic step towards improving your game exponentially.  I must say that a product like this might make me consider going out for a few rounds in the spring, well as long as I can practice with iSlice until then.  Unfortunately there isn’t an automatic mulligan app, because it would take something ridiculously expensive to undo the massive amount of suck that my game possess.

I’ll leave you with a sample of one of the video tutorials.  Do you think something like this could work for you?

apple iphone 4 bnr 280x149 Amzer’s Jelly Case Products on display at CTIA Fall 2010We have covered Amzer’s products before, like when they put out specially-made Palm Pre batteries.

I had a chance to see them at CTIA Fall 2010, and I was pretty impressed with their entire collection, especially their Jelly Case Series. They are made of 100 percent silicone, and provide more than adequate protection.

They are available for over 50 models of mobile devices, and you can check out the entire catalog here.

IMG 03951 200x300 Google Goggles Is HereAs much as I hate to say it, the folk over in the Android camp had one thing that I wanted so much that I thought about buying one of their phones. I didn’t, but it was a blip in my thought process.

The feature that I wanted so dearly was Google Goggles, a visual search feature that, up to now, was only available on the Android platform. As of now, Google Goggles is a new feature in the Google Mobile app — you know, the one that lets you speak your searches and gives you locally relevant results.

Instead of going through needless searches to identify a visual object like a building, for example, Google Goggles uses the iPhone camera to identify what is in the picture. Like any new technology, it doesn’t work 100% of the time, and doesn’t recognize somethings like animals, plants, or food, but it does do a great job identifying anything with a clear label (including wine, as shown in the video), various points of interest, and even foreign languages (it’ll translate to English). Give Google some time and I’m sure it’ll identify people and animals (including their names and birthdays), but that’s for the future.

Google Mobile only works with the English language and requires the auto focusing camera of the iPhone 3GS or 4, leaving iPhone 3G owners out of the loop. Like everything Google, the app is also free so be sure to pick it up today!

damaka logo 280x84 Damaka Amadeo allows for video conferencing on any platformWhile at CTIA Fall 2010 Showstoppers last night, I encountered a company known as Damaka. They told me that the name means “joy of communication” in Hindi, but I can’t verify that.

They proved yesterday that they can produce joy in communications. Their Amadeo service allows video conferencing from any platform, which includes person-to-person from Android, iPhone, ipad, BlackBerry, Symbian, or Windows Mobile. Anyone for Skype?

That alone is pretty impressive, and they also showed me a unique feature known as Sweeping which allows the user to switch platforms during a conference call. So if you are doing a webcam conference on your computer, and want to switch it to your smartphone, no problem! I got to see it for myself, and it looked pretty seamless.

Check out more on Damaka Amadeo and other services that the company provides at the official website.

Motorola Finiti Shadow Dyn2 270x259 Motorola debuts three new Bluetooth accessories at CTIA Fall 2010Motorola announced three new Bluetooth accessories, just in time for CTIA Fall 2010. It includes the Finiti (pictured), the CommandOne, and the Roadster.

The Finiti has three mics in order to block out wind and other surrounding noise. It also uses bone conduction technology and stealth mode for converting vocal vibrations to speech. As for the CommandOne, it has CrystalTalk noise cancellation and a MotoSpeak application, as well as A2DP streaming, multipoint, voice controls, and TrueComfort design.

Lastly, there is the Roadster, which is designed to climp onto a car visor. It has most of the features of the other two, with dual microphone noise cancellation, loud 2-watt speaker, automatic on and off, as well as an FM transmitter.

There is no price available on these guys, but they should be out this year.
