So the folks out at Wirefly sent me a Palm Pre Plus to try for a bit, and I have to admit that there was certainly plenty to like about this smart little phone. Or is it little smartphone? Well, either way, the Palm Pre Plus is pretty nice.
The Palm Pre Plus is a slider-style smartphone with conference call capability, voice recorder, caller ID, speakerphone, Bluetooth connectivity, sixteen gig of onboard memeory, mobile email, mobile web, support for most of the Microsoft Office suite, music player, a three megapixel camera, GPS, alarm clock, calendar, calculator, USB port, a self-cleaning carry pouch and a battery capable of yielding five and a half hours of talk time on a single charge.
The immediate best thing you’ll notice about the Palm Pre Plus is that the QWERTY keyboard that comes with it is surprisingly sharp and easy to use. I’ve complained about QWERTY keyboards on phones before as being entirely too small, but this one has a little extra note of tactile feedback that improves useability.
It’s not quite as useable as, say, a longer “landscape” keyboard. And it’s also rather sad that there’s no support here for VCast that I could find. But these are fairly small glitches in an overall sharp package.
The Palm Pre Plus will certainly surprise you, and offer you plenty of useful tools and features in one sharp, stylish, and handy package.
The Good
Nice design
Plenty of features
Improved keyboard
The Bad
Keyboard isn’t all it could have been
No VCast support at all
Score 7 / 10
