There is no denying that the Android smartphone market is growing at a rapid pace. Mobile analysis company Canalys released a report about how Nokia is retaining the smart phone leadership position and how the Android platform is growing.
The report claims that Nokia has a 38% market share in the smart phone market. Nokia shipped 23.8 million smart phones during this past quarter. This is a 41% growth from one year ago.
Worldwide, the smart phone market grew 64% annually. The BlackBerry platform is in second place for the smart phone market with an 18% market share.
Google stands out because they grew 886% in Q2 2010 year-on-year. This is largely due to the constant release of new Android phones powered by hardware partners HTC, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG, and Samsung.
