For those who have an Android phone and want to get the latest update for their Android phone like the latest version of Froyo, you might be able to dial this number (*#*#checkin#*#*) and get the newest update.
I say maybe because I just finished trying it, and I did not have any success. I have a Droid X, and it wouldn’t let me dial in a number this long. It stopped me at the curtailed number that you see in the picture.
My Source says that he tried it on the Nexus S, as well as the Droid Eris on Verizon. They have had apparent success that I have not.
I believe that the purpose of this number is to remove the lag between when a carrier makes an update vs. when the phone checks to see its available. In all honesty, I want to see it work well to get Gingerbread as soon as possible.
